As a trainee or a newbie or whatever you want to call it--your experience will not be much different at other companies. You want to get in and get your training out of the way and get a good 6 months to a year under your belt and then move on(if you choose to). Sometimes a lot of these companies work out for some and others they dont. Some guys get in and have no problems, and some guys get in and have nothing but problems. So get in get in the drivers seat and complete your training and then get your experience and then if you decide that CRE is not for you, then move on to something else, who knows, you may decide that you like it or it works for you. Always keep a positive attitude and keep records of EVERYTHING that you do. If you notice a lot of these complaints against (no matter who the company is) tend to be about payroll, and once you are in the industry you will figure out why real quick. As a newbie, you will find that this industry works way different than any you have ever been in. When you decide or if you decide to leave the company that trained you, you will find out that other companies dont really care where you got your training--whether it was at CR England, Swift or Joe's Trucking--all they care is that you have experience, because in the real world these companies( no matter if they only have 10 trucks or 10,000 trucks) all do the same thing and that is-deliver freight.

    HaH ..

Mr. Gullible here again ... even at low expectations, man CRE sucks balls ...

Schooling was actually great, teachers are awesome ... but man, once I got my CDL and got hired, the BS came to light ...

Just got home last night (The hell with SLC, UT)

Didn't choose to stick it out as I could see the BS flying all around the facility...

Well, at least my uncle (mr. 15yr truck driver) has a little pull at his job and will be riding team with him (Pride Trucking) for 4-6months .. to get a lil exp. so then I can move on...

It's sad to be hopeful even on a low level and still get let down ...

CRE reminds me of a pyramid scheme on a large scale ... first they tried to sell us one of their "fine" pre-owned cars, then tried to sell us on a lease truck, THEN, for whatever reason, they take a extra 1.5cents off your miles you make and say "recruit one driver, we'll give you back 1cent, and recruit 2, and we'll give you back the other .5cents" WtF!

-$20 every paycheck for some crap, stupid ##### comdata fees that you HAVE to use for the first month .. bla bla bla ...

Full class of 38, once background and drug tests weeded out, was left with 23 ... 4 failed the tests and were booted and out of the 19, 12 of us left the SAME day we were hired ... 7 people stayed out of 38 to start .. no wonder they bring in huge groups..

And i'm sorry to say, but the ones who stayed (IMO) were people who had NOTHING ... nowhere to go, no family, no bills, etc... so making $130 a week and a free truck to live in is awesome in their eyes...

Upset and Disappointment ... all I can say... CRE is a RiP!

Thanks brother I know you mean that. I know exactly what you are saying. I agree with you on almost all the points you made. I just feel I am in a situation with no other choices. Maybe I will find you in truck stop one day and I can repay you for all your advice with a cup of coffee or something. Take care brother.

I personally think you should call up the better companies and see what they are offering. You might be in a good area for them. Try Crete first off. I hear mostly good things about them and if you go through one of their approved schools they will reimburse you. You would be pretty far ahead if you can start with Crete. I also hear good things about Roehl. Right now is a pretty tough time to get into trucking. It just depends on how bad you want it.

Sorry, when I posted this I didn't notice, the comp was logged in under a diffrent user. I also didnt notice that the post I was responding to was really old.

But with that said. When CRE first got any Prepass transponders. It was through the Trusted Carrier Program with the state of Oregon and only worked there. It had something to do with tax documentation rather that weight.

As to what deal Oregon had with Prepass for the private usage for the trusted carrier program. I don't know how that worked. But, when I was given a Prepass Transponder for my truck it was in an envelope. Containing the transponder a 2nd lic. plate (said trusted oregon carrier) and a registration card that matched the plate and the transponder.
And was informed by the permit department. That the only place the transponder would work, was Oregon.

i'll say this much about CRE, i went there wayyyy back in april 2003 for CDL school, the instructors seemed to me like they genuinely cared about the students, and.. well.. for the $5000 note we signed to be there in their school who wouldnt??? but seriously, i did learn alot!!

that being said, i spent all of 9wks on the road and went crazy, after being hired, they asked me to ferry an exp'd driver from SLC UT to NYC to pickup an abandoned truck, after 4hrs of him driving through a blizzard in wyoming, i had to insist that i did all the driving, he told me that his way of driving was what they expected (full throttle on an icy road, hearing the engine rev hard everytime he lost traction on the ice??? YEAH RIGHT!!!!). that shoulda been my red flag, being DOT'd in NE, IA, IL should have been my redflags too (so much for thinking it was DOT hazing the newbs) the last straw was pulling a ground beef load outta plainview TX w/ 4 stops, last one in southern MS, having to hit the dallas tx walmart dist ctr where my reefer sat on the loading dock, doors open reefer off for 3hrs, when i did finally get to my last stop, out of 1500#s of beef, 105# were bad (sitting on hot days w/ a reefer off, doors open for 3 prior stops??) and who got the bill at $5/lb of spoiled beef?? me, who had to sit for almost 36hrs while dispatch tried to figure out what to do w. the fouled beef?? me!

for training you wont find many that can do it in 4wks any better than those guys, for employment, get the heck outta SLC!

Just some info for those considering CRE. Right now there is a very long wait to get a truck. I waited 33 days. I have heard of guys waiting 2 months. You will not get a brand new truck. If you have no experience you will go out with a trainer for 30 days. Come in for classes and a test. Then go out for another 35 days. In my first week out as a trainer. I have been in the shop every day and only gotten 1300 miles. My paycheck is negative. Any other questions feel free to ask.
