Are you syncing it to your trucks ecm? If it is not getting the data from the truck it's not an ELD. It's simply a paper log stored electronically.

    Hulld Thanks this.

Hell, I don't even plan to pull it out of the box until I've logged 8 days in 30...

I guess you would be right , not attached to the truck ecm . Isn't ELD electronic logging device ? The Garmin runs off GPS so if you change trucks , just take the GPS with you to the next truck , it logs everything just like the qual comm , I am just saying as an electronic logging device it has all the features and stores all the data , can be down loaded or printed out , I guess it can't be that simple , it even gives a warning about 11, 14 , and 8 hour breaks . Too bad it can't be a fix so that drivers don't have to spend $$ on a system plus monthly bill just to have a Electronic Logging Device

There is no monthly fee with the Garmin...just the initial purchase price. It supposedly will link up with your Garmin GPS that already acts as an electronic log in order to connect to the ECM as ELD's are required to do.

Does the Garmin have an AOBR mode? I ask as it would be better to set it up at least before the 18th if it does. It's less restrictive than ELD mode as ELD will be limited to 5MPH as the max speed. If it has AOBR mode then you can set max MPH before switching to drive to whatever you want.
You will need to get it activated before the 18th if so, other wise you will be locked into ELD mode.
You'll get 2 years of AOBR and hopefully a saner HOS before the AOBR has to go away in 2019.

Lol I drove backwards yesterday according to the Garmin ELD odometer. 396,209-214,550. Total miles for the day, 9,999,999! BTW my actual odometer reads 396,565

I am interested in hearing others experiences with this. My manager got this for me & we hooked it up & started using it on the 18th. Its the 21st & we havent gotten a correct log any of the 3 days so far. One day, I logged in, did my pretrip, entered all my trailer & BOL info, got my trailer etc, etc. Then drove about 125 miles to my pickup location & the first thing the log showed for that day was when I went "on Duty" at the shipper. No on duty, no drive time, nothing on the log until I got settled at the shipper. The day before was similar but slightly different issues. The day before had issues as well. I wrote off the first two days as possibly, my inexperience with the equipment & software. Each day, we went over all the issues & discussed ideas & suggestions to fix that days issues, but the next day would be more issues. Two different days, it hasnt shown my initial on duty or drive time on my log. It is set & shows me choosing the options but on the log, it doesnt show it.

Also, you can only email one day of your log. You cant email two or more days of logs. There are no options to do that. The software gives you an option to send log by email. you do so but its only one day with no other options.

So far, it has proven to be problematic for us. Its either:
something I an doing or not doing or,
    poor software design or,
a glitch in my specific software which will require another download for a clean version/download etc.

So, I am looking for others input who has or is using this software.

Anyone using it with the GPS as opposed to a cell phone? Haven't plugged mine in yet (and don't intend to until I hit day 9...still at 0, so it coud be a while...)
