Any tips for me? I take my road test tommorow but I must pass the pretrip and the 3 backing manuvers first the straightline, offset and 90 alley dock.
From what I'm told you are allowed 12 points maximum for backing. 2 free pullups and 2 goal's. 1 point for every extra pull-up and 2 points for encroaching a line.
30 points max on the driving part. Hit a curb automatic fail or causing a car to slow down fail.
I drove about 2 hours in a row today did real good but I rubbed a curb twice once with my steer and one with a tandem tire.
At least I'm not riding over curbs. I know I gotta watch better and I gotta tighten up quicker after the turn.
Testing out tomorrow morning

That is not a attack against you.
You are going to take one at least nice person for a drive tomorrow, that person will have good things to write about your drive when you are finished. DO NOT fall into the trap of counting imagined violations. More than likely other than telling you where to go, you wont hear anything from the tester.
And boy howdy your real education will begin on hiring out with your very first employer.Dan.S Thanks this. -

Practice pratice practice the pre trip tonight. They told me the pre trip get more people then anything. Stay calm on your backing stuff, don't get in a rush and make mistakes. On the driving watch all the signs, speed, bridge hieght etc... You can probably get on youtube and search town name cdl driving test etc.. and find a video of the route you will drive.

I took my first test a month ago today. Passed my second one last week and just started with superior carriers today.
My first test I failed my alley dock so I didn’t even get to the road test. It was very frustrating because it all clicked with me from day one. Now I’m not saying I’m a master or a backing pro, it was just one of those things that seemed to come more naturally to me than others in my class.
My advice is take your time, think, and be confident. Also if your school practiced in a dirt yard but your testing on pavement like I did, it seemed like the trailer is a bit more responsive. Especially with the alley dock lol.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

The lady that tested me was real encouraging. She said she hated to pass me but I didn't make enough mistakes to fail me. The story of my career, not enough mistakes to fire me, woot, woot.

Pre-trip! Work on your flow so you don't forget anything. Also go over the air brake portion a few extra times. You'd be surprised how may guys go in and forget to shut the truck off or release the parking brake before pumping that pedal.
Best of luck!
