I met with a recruiter today about schneiders tanker division. He stated that i cannot be hired for the tanker position because I live in Colorado, However he stated that he had a better opportunity. He stated schneider would pay for my school and then send me to Pheonix for three weeks and then i would team on a dedicated account. The account would be drop and hook running from Topeka to all the Colorado Home Depots and home weekends. How much truth to any of this. 1 yr contract for them to pay for school.....

Happens every day. Do the 12 mos. obligation, then go to a tanker company.
With 12 mos. driving experience, many tanker companies will hire you.
The only potential problem I see is the teaming; not everyone is suitable for teaming. Being home on weekends can help with that though; you get a break from being stuck in a truck with another person.
There's a father/son team in Colorado Springs that did the Schneider team together as part of their contract, and said it was ok. They completed the contract then moved on to another company.

Check with Careers Worldwide Truck Driving School in Colorado. They may have some other deals you'd be interested in where school is paid for by trucking companies.

SNI doesn't have t have enough tanker freight volume to get him home so we don't hire in that area.

The recruiter is telling the truth in regards to the details of the position. Whether it's better then bulk is debatable, as is if it's the best option.

Teaming would never work for me. If there are other options I would explore them

Yeah I am not big on teaming.... I just wondered wanted to get into tanks but will go do a yr somewhere if i have to. Thing is just because I live in Colorado doesn't mean I need to be home other than some emergencies or a wedding or a funeral. I would rather go live in the truck and make money...

Missed the Topeka Home Depot part. That's a pretty good account, know a few guys running it that are very happy.
