looking at a 1998 t600 with C12 cat. Never owned a cat but tried to stay away due to cost of parts but truck is decent price. Thoughts on C12? Good or bad

Don’t know anything about a C12 but that model year predates a lot of emissions issues so it’s probably reliable. I’ve had a 1998 T800 with an M11, 13 speed, 4.33 rear. It’s been reliable. Also had a 1995 T600 with a N14, 15 direct, 3.90 and the only complaint was the T600 mirrors are always needing repair and you have to take the aero skirts off to properly wash the truck

I have same tranny & rears on a volvo d12. I'm got 8.5+mpg with 44Klbs on a dry van with cruise pegged @ 65mpg in Lynchburg, VA (plenty of hills) and 14+mpg bobtail

425HP/1800TQ -- It's mountain specked, so it's pretty quick and has very narrow gear range.

I cant answer the CAT motor side, but tranny & rears should allow a good mpg (I think)
