IMG_20171216_093156.jpg IMG_20171216_093655.jpg Hey everyone. Coming to what MISEIAN said could this be caused by a compression issue. Usually have the truck, trailer, and engine washed before leaving home, didn't this time. Doesn't appear to be a drastic leak but a leak nonetheless. This is a new development I just found doing my PTI.

Here are my thoughts any old beat up truck with non egr and scr, will match these fuel mpg or beat them. Shiny costs a lot of money. Chrome never got me home.

I second that the filter is either loose or has a bad gasket. Had it happen a few times on my old truck. I had one that was loose and needed tightened and the other two times were bad gaskets.

Regarding the compression issue I mentioned earlier; when your engine is hot and you stop for a break, take the oil fill cap off. You should see some smoke but if it is really rolling out of there it's a sign of compression loss as well or blow by as they call it. Oil samples are cheap and if your sample comes back high in certain metals, soot, fuel dilution, etc it tells you exactly where the problem is. Any speedco, dealer, and maybe TA/Petro could pull a sample. I send mine to Blackstone Labs. Speedco can analyze it right there on the spot but I've heard their machines aren't very accurate.

Love the window rack. I was hoping you didn’t cut a hole in the sleeper for a window unit. Very nice setup

Kinda curious if you’re saying that about the Volvo because of fuel mileage or breakdowns? I have a 2018 Volvo 670, D13 and iShift 455hp and 1650/1850 split torque with 3.08 rears. It has full fairings but otherwise no aero equipment and a fairly long wheel base for a 670. Regularly pulling 40k+ east of the Mississippi in van trailers with no aero equipment and running 70-73mph, I can maintain low to mid 6mpg averages. And that’s with idling every night. I feel like that’s a pretty solid number all things considered, as I have no lie to tell I drive with little regard for fuel mileage lol

The 2016 670 I had previously was set up similarly except having a Cummins ISX 450/1650 with a 10 speed and I was luckily to average in the low 5s. Perhaps I’m just not an efficient manual trans driver but I wasn’t impressed with that setup in the least. Also had a lot of mechanical issues with that truck and the rest of the Cummins powered trucks in the fleet really. The Volvo powertrains have proven to be really solid

OP, you are too fast for good mpg, i spent 10 years on my Volvo and 1.8 mil miles, high speed kept me in shop with all kind of emission problems, clogged, EGR coolet, DPF filter.
I used to get 8 to 9 mpg, in my Volvo 780 2008, even at +1.8 mil miles on original motor.Sold it few month ago, got a used 2010,Volvo 780, same specs,D13, eaton 13, with over a mil miles,( got it for 20k peanuts ,people are running from 08-10 , but this D13 is an exceptional motor on fuel economy and reliability, from my experience)
i get same high 8-9 mpg , ;7-8 now during winter
I run 60 mph if hravy, 62 max 65 mph if light.Im governed to 65 mph, Ontario laws.
See below some mpg samples from my dash, first 2 ,the 08, last two the 2010 im driving now.
