Trucker path. It's an interactive app and is helpful with accurate driver input. It's free and a very useful tool.

I drive the I-5 every week, OR to CA & back. Let me tell you, I've noticed an increase of trucks parking on the freeway, on-ramps, off-ramps, you name it. Unless you get there by 1600 you can almost forget finding a spot at one of the rest areas. Most of the truck stops are not anywhere where I would want to park, especially the pee-lots. They are so tight you run the risk of having your front end torn off, that's another story though ;-)

I will agree with you on that. When I'm heading into an area with very limited truck parking I factor in the the available parking and the time of day, then adjust my trip planning.

You can't guess how busy parking will be from day to day and week to week. You can observe one truck stop at 21:00 on a Tuesday and it will be full past the brim. Next week same day, same time, it may only be 80% full.

Freight movements are cyclical and random with little rhyme or reason. Also, the current presidential administration will argue the US economy is presently into a booming upswing in domestic consumption and production.

So. Who knows what factors may ultimately be at play in the last half of a December.

I have noticed it too, lead up to rest areas and truck stops are filling up on the side of the road and offramps, the on ramps are getting crowded too. Some are straight up just parking along the side of the road on the busy interstate. Some drivers simply park in the fuel island and shut their lights off. That's not even a joke.

I know. Seriously, truck stops are going to have to hire fuel island "monitors" 24 hours a day to keep things moving so others can get fuel in a timely manner. They've put it off too long, already.

They are going to have to be "bouncer material" or former special ops military to dissuade agitated truckers from testing their authority and determination.

But they can also shut off their loyalty cards [associated with carrier and truck number that match last fueling] if they cop an attitude

Parked at a TA. Business as usual. 200 spots. About half full when I got here at 1800. Full from what I could see w, park on ramphen I came out after the football game, but not a cluster F.

Maybe 1/3 spots taken right now, Sunday morning.

Still have yet to pay for parking, park on ramp, blah.
