So if they inspect you and you claim your ELD is not operational; like yesterday Keep Truckin was, they should not fine you...but could they?

Just like they could fine you for a flat tire at a scale you just pulled in, even though, you can claim that it just happened and you did not notice it yet (sincerely).

The enforcement is all over the place. Friend of mine is DOT officer in TX, and they have been instructed by head of TX DPS to just issue warnings no citations until April.

And you're supposed to have paper log back up, for when the e log fails. ( Not kidding ).

So how do you get the previous 8 days if your eLog is crashed........Only way I can figure is to run eLog & Paper. Is that legal? Running 2 logs? I’ve wondered about that since this mandate came about...

That's why people shouldn't wait till the last minute. Should have had it up and running a month or so ago to make sure any and all bugs are worked out...

Nah, I tested it few weeks ago and it was fine. The problem is in the ELD hardware and software. There nothing I can do to make sure it doesn't loose Bluetooth connection

You can run 2 logs, and there are times the regulations actually REQUIRE it (such as when you work for more than one carrier...each carrier is required to receive an original log, and their info needs to be printed on it). As long as the graph grid matches on all your logs, accurately reflecting your time, you can keep as many logs as you like.

Everything could be working fine...and then an update is pushed through with a few bugs. Happens all of the time with cell phone apps and computer programs. Why would anyone expect elogs to be different?

    Teivel VP Thanks this.

I don't know about all these aftermarket eld's but with ommni tracks (Qualcomm) there is a way to access and print from a online website. You can scroll through and see the day to day graphs.
