Believe me. Nobody understands the problems associated with eLogs any better than I do. Your noted scenario is not unique. I answer to my own personal quest for 100% on time performance. But that aside, I mess up, don't plan right, or screw around, me and my company both are out money.
I've been running on recap hours and ran to within 1 hour or less to my 70 the last 16 days and will for at least the next 3 days ... just to get the job done. Will likely deal with snow and ice between Allentown and SLC but I'm not going to blame a stupid box if I'm an hour late Wednesday morning at the ice cream plant. It's trucking under the current rules.

I think this dispatcher needs to either get laid or get a vacation. Three days does not chaos make.
As far as the Arkansas truck parking, i can probably stick 20 trucks here there and everywhere. It might not be totally lawful parking but it will do in a pinch. I do like the idea that truckers have the balls to stay put and not move a inch against the police or computer. Who is gonna get the citation? Huh? Nobody. Who are the police gonna call? Tow. There isnt enough rotators in the whole country to cover all the trucks out of HOS.
I don't mind equally abusing stupid people. But in this case the Police gets a shot from me because they are being willfully stupid telling truckers to break the law and expose themselves and companies to a citation to start off.
I did not see the video due to my browser's blocking software, but I can imagine the situation. Maybe if someone puts a direct link, I can try again.
I am not a steering wheel holder and there are ways to work around the solo driver limitations in delivery if you are running hot customers demanding freight. That's solution is teaming. Put two in a truck and pay them WELL or a salary to both. They will stay a while.
I do alot of planning for a trip and am pretty good at it. She'll be parked tonight after a 8 hour run if necessary, not the full 11.
The customers are just going to have to #####. It will get there when it gets there. So what if they don't get it until tomorrow. I bet you ten to one that it took 3 months to get to the west or east coast by sea from either Europe or Asia. A day or three wont hurt none.Oldironfan and bzinger Thank this. -

Parking at any loves in AR is a mess all day long. Or any truck stop in AR on i40 or i30.

I love the fact she thinks that her job being a bit harder because she has to actually follow the laws is worse than sexual assault.

The news media, nor the average American, have any clue how or why the ELD mandate will make the "cost of living go up."
longbedGTs, Dan.S, DoubleO7 and 3 others Thank this.
