During this past week every broker I did a load with plus more I've spoken to I've asked them if they've noticed a clear difference in the market and service now with elogs.
Each one flat out told me yes, many more late trucks and harder to get trucks. (more than other Holiday seasons? "yes a lot more")
Didn't think I'd be working on Christmas but here I am. Broker blew up my phone and asked me what I'd do his load for.
I said it would take over $5+ a mile $6,900 total...
"okay, stay on the line calling the customer now.... okay you got it customer didn't want to pay that much but they had no other choice being the last 3 booked trucks fell through and this load needs to go".
Not just Christmas either, desprate calls from brokers over and over again.
If they can't reach me they are even blowing up my carrier's phone asking about my truck and how to get a hold of me. crazy and relentless.
When a shipper/broker is at risk of losing a customer and/or reefer load must go or else go bad they will do whatever it takes.
look at this
take that chart and now add elogs and a passed tax plan!Last edited: Dec 25, 2017

Contract rates typically follow spot rates by 3 to 6 months. Yet we have barely seen any increase in the rates SNI puts on the board. I now fully believe SNI is flat out ripping us for all they can get away with.Home_on_wheels, drvrtech77, TennMan and 1 other person Thank this. -
When Schneider plays with rates as much as they do it eventually sometimes gets back around to the shipper and then the shipper is pissed and blurts it out to other drivers.
"Sure wish Schneider would cut the rates for us on these loads like they are for you ICs"
The rates really are just whatever they feel like stealing from the drivers that period, just like the fuel discount.Last edited: Dec 25, 2017

I got stuck in Ohio doing a last second load as a "favor" to my carrier only to find out my return load won't be ready until tomorrow afternoon. They doubled my round trip rate for my troubles but that's not going to cover the cost of my soon to be divorce this caused. I am forever done with favors of any kind in this business.
Other than that, Merry Christmas!TennMan Thanks this. -
man, that's just wrong......they knew they were gonna screw ya. Just as aside, how far would you have to dead head to get home?
