    What I'm saying.
You need to buy scanner, software, storage device or cloud space. Then you need to spent time to scan....
Have you tried to scan PJ receipt 3 ft long?
Every item has a bar code with name why not just use bank transaction as a receipt?

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

Or, download a free app to your phone. There is a PDF one that works excellent, even takes the picture and stores it.
You can then email it to yourself.
A years worth of receipts would probably be less than 2 mb on your phone.

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

So your laptop holding all your receipts is either lost, stolen, or destroyed...... what back up do you plan to have?

I know there are drivers that prefer to run as a 1099 driver. But you should consider what the differences are between W2 and 1099. As a 1099, when you file your taxes you will be charged the "self employment tax". This is Social Security. You pay both the employees (you) part-7.5%. Then you pay the companies (also you) part- another 7.5%. The companies part can be deducted on your taxes. As a W2 employee, you would only pay the 7.5% once- deducted from every paycheck.
On 1099, unless you buy workmans comp insurance coverage for yourself, if you get hurt on the job, you are out of luck. No $$$. Also if you get let go, layed off etc. you cannot collect unemployment insurance while a W2 driver probably could.
You should take a good look at your situation. I've heard a lot of guys say they like 1099 jobs, but they always seem to be getting top pay. Find a good accountant that if familiar with trucking (this is important) and sit down and run the numbers Good luck.

With the new tax bill it's a waiting game until the forms are available.
Save all your receipts and pray?:dontknow:
