So I worked for a team based company. I put my two weeks notice like I would with any employer. They wouldn't get me home. After being trapped in the truck for about a week after my two weeks had passed. I finally came close to an area where I had some family. So I jumped off the truck and let my codriver take it. Now they are saying that I abandoned the truck. To my knowledge that wouldn't be truck abandonment. I believe I had ever right to do that. What do I do? I heard that if that ends up on your dac report you are finished trucking. However this company has a reputation for doing things like this. Do I have to worry about anything?

I would not sweat it, only the mega carriers use DAC... Just explain the situation to your future employer, trust me, they have heard worse. You will get another job.

I can't see it being truck abandonment if there is a qualified Co driver.

This one's a little grey. Did you send them your notice via electronic means, i.e. Qualcomm message, text where there would be a record? If so, I'd say you were in the clear, no problem. If it was a phone conversation then it gets a little he said/he said and you may be on a little shakier ground. Team operation? Keep your eye on your DAC after you challenge this and see if they changed the report to "Quit Under Dispatch"...this one could get a little weird.

Just keep a record of what happened, with dates, people and the drama, When you look at a new employer be honest with them, that way they will know you have some scruples. I would not worry one bit about it, Now you know how some of these great companies work and some pull the religion card on you saying how god fearing and following they are plus they treat family great. False news!

Screw that! Explain situation up front to any employer you want to go too.. I don’t think it will be a problem. They can’t just continue to keep you hostage after you gave your notice and they didn’t care to honor that!
