Landstar is a little bit of a weird case. You see that post I made where their strength comes from a partnership between the agents and the trucks? There are fleet owners and owner operators inside Landstar who are doing very well.
Swift isn't about cutting anyone in at all. Just not what they are. Not knocking them, their lowest behavior is way higher than Landstar's lowest. Almost everyone's is.
Landstar is getting cheap.

Landstar has some extremely lucrative freight going on for reliable guys. Now whether it's worth the various headaches that come from dealing with Landstar agents all day is an excellent question. -
Their new contract is pretty bad , there's guys with older contracts then mine who would laugh at my rates , 67% of 98% on line haul , 8% for my trailer , it comes to 73.5% plus fuel surcharge , if you dwell on what landstar takes you'll never be happy
exhausted379 and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Okay more simple question, can Landstar drivers with their own Van or Reefer consistently average over $1000 a day after Landstar's cut?
-
But if you make $5K, $6K in a week, after fuel and their cut, does it matter how much they make?
Our rates are 20 or 30 percent more than what 99% of people make with their own numbers, AFTER LS takes their cut.
And this isn't the really good dog food loads.
Like I said, the only reason people don't work there, is because they can't.DSK333 Thanks this. -

I mean I encourage people to go to Schneider. Cause I've read so much about that's where the big money is, but no one believes me.
Justrucking2 Thanks this.
