Is it your truck or a company truck? Is it a company shop or independent?

If it is a company truck dropped at a company shop, they can do as they please with their truck. Even if you're a L/P driver, the company has more liberty with "your" truck than if you actually own it.

Assuming, however, that it IS your truck (thus posting in the O/O section) and a private shop, there really aren't too many reasons for the odometer to have changed by that much. Have you asked the shop? That would be your first step. Depending upon what was done, perhaps they needed to run it up the road to another facility? For example, change the kingpins or replace tie rod ends and you ought to have an alignment done...and if the shop that did the mechanical work doesn't do alignments and the nearest/best alignment shop is 50 km up the road, the round trip will add a few km's to the odometer. There may be a perfectly good explaination...but you won't know unless you ask.

I'm guessing whoever did may not have a job for long, then.

And I wouldn't be OK with any shop using my truck to move a trailer around, unless it was there for 5th wheel related issues and it was part of the road test. If the move is not directly related to something the truck is at the shop to have done, then the move should not happen.

I'd demand a credit on the bill to compensate for the use of the truck. What's the federal rate for automobile use up there? (Assuming Canada, as you're giving distance in km). Here, it was 53.5 cents per mile in 2017. That should be the MINIMUM that gets knocked off your bill. What's your cost per mile (or km)? I'd say that would be a fair top end, since that would also include driver pay and such which really isn't out of your pocket in this instance...so I doubt he'd be inclined to go beyond that. I'd also stress that this sort of thing is unacceptable. At the very least, this amount needs to cover the fuel and other wear & tear items (tires, brakes, etc.) used.
