Wow, just read this entire thread. Glad I did. I was planning on re-marrying, but suddenly realized how happy the single life is. Happy New Year everyone!

So basically the OP is looking to screw Swift after graduating from the Corsicana, Tx academy with only 7 months left to complete the 13 month contract, which Swift and tax payers to some extent pay for. No money upfront, free hotel, good training, leniency on background, decent starting pay..

For what, maybe an extra 3 cents a mile? Maybe the OP should just honor the contract and suck it up. Swift can, will, and should blackball you if you break your word. Just my 2 cents.

Swift can threaten to blackball an employee, but in reality, there's nothing they can do. Is Swift cdl school debt owed to Swift or to a second party finance company? Either way, they simply sell the debt to a collection agency rather than waste money on lawyers suing for it.Telling an employee they will blackball them is a hollow threat. CRST tries that all the time ; many employees have to quit CRST before the contract is fulfilled because they're not making enough money to even eat decently on the road. Those drivers have no problem at all finding new driving employment.
Swift & CRST & others have a moral obligation to uphold their promises of making a decent living.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread but I saw your post Captain Dave and was curious about your company...but "gravescorp.com" isn't a hosted domain. Did you mistype the name?

Listen to him... I know it’s hard and annoying right now. Don’t jump ship until you have the time. You’ll have better options also if you wait a little bit longer.

I've been a member and a lurker for years on this site. I've noticed that often the advice given to newbies is to suck it up & stick it out. It's true that bs is part of the job and will be at every company.

However I don't see why anyone should stay miserable just for the sake of saying they toughed it out. That mega isn't gonna give the op an "atta boy" so to speak if she stayed the year.

It's a bit disingenuous to advise people to stay in a bad situation just because they are new to the industry.

I have an incredibly low tolerance for stupid bs. Everybody is different. When the organization crap meter gets to high god gave me legs to walk and fingers to scroll indeed.

She said life advice, not trucking advice.

    C'mon folks, get over this.

That is a good point. I don't know everything, but I do know if you come on these forums it can and normally will be anything goes. Trucking is a tough racket that at times requires a very thick skin. Most of these kids or newbies to the industry don't have that ability to let this stuff roll off their back. Now, there is a line one does not cross, but I do not see that here. What this gal is complaining of is simple to resolve, ask for a new dispatcher, don't quit and walk away when there are real financial consequences. She still owes for that schooling, and being hounded by a creditor, or collection agency is not a good way to start ones career over something that does not warrant it.

This is one of those suck it up moments, time to be an adult. Call the company, switch dispatchers or DM and carry on. Fulfill the contract, do your job and leave this in the past. Anyone with any time out here knows that until you get a year or two under your belt, a SAFE year or two, that is when the opportunities start presenting themselves. That is if you have the right attitude and initiative. A little commonsense and critical thinking skills never hurt either. Something that is getting rare out here.
