Signed no contract. Education was NOT free. I owe $500 for the hotel no matter what. The deal you make with Swift is stay 13 mos and you only pay half the $3900. Stay 26 months and it's free. Leave immediately and make payments of $150 a month. With the opportunity presented us, it is much more profitable at this point to pay the $150/mo. At no point did we promise Swift or sign anything that said we would stay for a year. We just have to pay if we don't. And of all the people we met at the academy, we are the only ones who still work for Swift and the others are already doing better. So I feel no guilt. :)

No, I came here for a shortened list of companies to look at. End of story. At no point did I ask anyone's opinions or commentary on my choices. This post was simply a way to go from blank slate with thousands of potential options, to a few suggestions that MIGHT fit the criteria I was looking for. A jump start. None of that requires anyone's input on whether or not I should do this or that. I'm truly dumbfounded that this is confusing for some of you. But, if all goes well, I just boosted my income by about 40% by NOT listening to all this "advice." You guys don't pay my bills, so I really don't care if you approve. But thank you, anyway. :)

Which is advice. I'm truly dumbfounded that this is confusing for you.

And how sure are you that you just boosted your income by about 40%?

A "bad situation" is subjective to the person and most of us have been in a lot worst and dealt with it accordingly.

When people are dismissive of advice that is passed on to them that has been gained through experience, it is more that disingenuous on the person who is asking for the advice than that of the advice giver.

This case she is acting like she knows more than us, some crap about life advice and all of that bs, to me she seems to ignore that fact that this is a business of what she knows little about, has no understanding why she is a high risk, and really should have figured it out herself if she didn't want to hear other things that are relevant.

As a fleet owner, I will look at a resume with a five month duration in the first job and it goes right into the garbage.

*sigh* Ok, sure, if you consider a list of company names as advice, then sure, I came here for very specific "advice" and I took and appreciate THAT advice. Are you suggesting that if someone needs advice about one thing, they should take advice from anyone about everything in their lives if it is offered in the same venue as the advice they actually needed or wanted? Seems rather naive to me, and foolish. The list of companies required me to do nothing but take that list, contact those places, and verify that they were, indeed, what I might be looking for. It did not require me to make life or career decisions based solely on the advice of hostile and immature strangers on a message board. Again, I fail to see why this is difficult, or why grown adults feel the need to belittle and insult someone who just doesn't have any need for their pushy advice. I hope no one ever takes the advice of half the people on this thread, as it is clear that you offer advice to stroke your own egos... not out of any desire to actually improve the lives of your targets. The more this goes on, the more certain I am that my judgment remains solid.

And to answer your question, fairly sure. The offer was a guaranteed salary, not cpm, so miles don't matter. Our MVRs are squeaky clean, we have no criminal backgrounds, and we can pass a drug test... so no reason to be rejected. But even if it were to fall through for some reason, I'm no worse off at this point than when I started, and still have quite a good list of companies to consider. :)

I already admitted I don't know much about trucking. I do know I'm not happy where I am. That being the case, I can stay and remain unhappy for no reason other than... bragging rights? I can leave and go be a housewife, which I feel I would get bored, but it's an option. Or I can leave and see if I'm happier elsewhere. I have absolutely no need to stay where I am. I don't NEED the job. I WANT the job. That gives me plenty of room to move about as I wish. If trucking isn't for me, I'll figure that out and move on to something else. Trucking isn't my first and won't be my last career. I consider careers as adventures and I like to enjoy learning them. I'm sorry if your reality is different. But you don't get to insist that mine is or should be the same as yours. If you've ever been stuck somewhere you were unhappy, I'm sorry for you. I don't have to be, and I won't. I really don't care if you like that or not. :)

Lucky for me, I wasn't asking you for a job and someone else was fine with my resume. I guess you should tell them how to run their business since they must be doing it wrong, hmm?

So which am I? Hostile or immature? Care to show me where I offered advice to stroke my own ego?

Personally I would have recommended TSMT.

    Who did you go with?

I’ve never done otr... If you aren’t happy then leave Swift. If it’s possible try not to leave unless you have another job lined up first.

Neither yet, as I can tell. You just seem a bit sure that I should take all advice, since I had the nerve to ask for very specific advice, which seems odd. I was speaking in generalities about those offering the advice you seemed to think I asked for, rather than about you, specifically.

I'm not going to reveal my choice until the hiring process is through... even then maybe not. With some of the attitudes I've seen here, I have no doubt that some of them aren't above actually trying to stop me from getting better employment since I wasn't a good little newbie who bowed and obeyed the keyboard gods. You would hope that those so keen to offer advice to new people would be above that, but with the hostility I've seen here, I don't doubt it for a second. Misery loves company, but I don't want any part of it.
