So my partner took the truck for repairs and left the reefer at the truck stop. Not the first time he's done it and I always told him not to be lazy and let the office know and pay them if they need their day's fee. Well, of course he knows better, and laughed at me, saying they told him before that a day or two isn't a problem and that they can't tow it anyways because he puts a lock on the kingpin. Well, guess what, today a manager showed up to the truck stop, walked around and had 24 trailers towed. There was a lot of screaming and yelling going on there today as people were coming back to find their trailers gone.

My partner is currently trying to get the trailer bailed out. We're out of $542 and I'm pissed beyond measure. I do have a couple of questions. He says he can see our trailer and the lock is still on the kingpin. How can they tow the trailer like that? How do they hook it up? Is there a possibility of causing damage while doing so? I want him to inspect every inch of the trailer as I just paid $64K for it and it's about a month old. Anything specific to watch out for?

Watch out having an idiot for a partner. I couldn't resist. I despise that type of person. Good luck.

Morton's in North Las Vegas. Honestly, I don't blame the truck stop. They have a policy everyone is well aware of. Yes, plenty of people choose to ignore it and most of the time they get away with it. I hate this type of crap and I like to do everything by the book. Telling my partner this is coming out of his pocket, not the business account. But again, it's not so much the $500 some dollars. I really hope they didn't eff up my brand new reefer. So many nightmare stories with these towing companies...

The big heavy duty wreckers have a king pin set up that straps to the back tow bar on the truck. It just slides right on, locks down and they hook it up and drive away. That or the tow company had a bob tail rig sitting around and they started yanking. Some of them can even put the chains up under the trailer to support it and drive off.

Sorry about your ####ty day and I hope you get your trailer back and then a new partner.

Sorry about that man but honestly it's about time Morton's does that. Last time I was there I saw 30 trailers.

The question is, can they hook up by the king pin if it has a lock around it.

    Like I said, I don't blame Morton's one bit.

A big part of the problem is local drivers using truck parking as their own personal parking spot. They have a truck and no place for a trailer or can't take it home. So they take the easy route which screws over guys really needing and deserving that spot. Selfish jerks.
