Drivers do help each other out all the time, but I doubt that includes helping out complacent outlaws. The ones that do are also likely (IMO) to help protect the illegal immigrants in our USA... which is sad but most likely true. The political angle is certainly alive and well on the outlaw issue. Don't you agree?

I contend that we have too many laws in general that "might just slow them down a bit". Adding more does not typically help the situation, and sometimes makes it worse (gun control laws in Chicago come to mind).
In my opinion the ELD mandate was pushed forward under the guise of safety, but will likely result in no added benefit. I also believe that the real reason behind the ELD mandate has nothing to do with safety, and that is what I object about it.

I don't believe that your example of outlaw is at all representative of the older drivers with impeccable safety records and millions of miles under their belts. The ones that used to stop and help other drivers along side the road; the ones that use the CB to warn other drivers of hazards; and the ones that object to ELDs.

I just got a roadside lvl 3 inspection, in Wisconsin yesterday. On us 10. Never asked if i was on elog, never asked for my logs. I have paper. Only truck book and licence. Did not even want my med card, weird I thought. But Wisconsin troopers were watching everywhere yesterday.

Cops don't ask for your med card anymore, since it's in their system tied to your CDL. They can see if you have it or not when they run your license.

Agreed Sir! 2018 makes 31 years ago I started driving commercially. So far I have ZERO accidents, that includes my personal vehicle. I've been upside down in a 1961 Chevy truck, teeth knocked out of my face in a 1966 C10, right lung busted in a Chevy chevette, and in non of those situations was I in control. I could be wrong, God knows I have been in some things, but Elogs is the farthest thing from making "safe drivers" in my opinion. Safety starts and ends with the man / woman holding the wheel! Not a calculator or GPS. Y'all be safe out there!

Agree 100% I even had similar driving experience no accidents including my POV. I still have all my teeth despite being upside twice, and a few more incidents riding as a passenger. All them drivers ( very young at the time and drinking and getting high ) have passed away. I probably would have had the same fate if now for the Grace of God. I joined the Marine Corps. This was a good place for hard heads such as myself. Oldskooler that is when I left WV. President Carter had the unemployment so high I needed to go into the military. Now today, with the technology to rely on, one might not be so inclined to listen to older drivers having 30,40 years experience. You would be missing out, might even help you live longer. I have a lot of wisdom on this particular thread. Not some old guys that don’t want to change.

the officer that done my level 2 Friday asked for mine, looked at the expiration date and the DPS stamp on the back then handed it back. Done that before he looked the truck over

That is odd as Pedigree Bulldog said.. they are not required anymore since they are tied to the Driver License.. There have been instances where the driver got a ticket for not being in compliance for having it.

yeah I've heard the same thing and don't know what he would have said if I didn't have it. We were still in the parking lot at the time he walked up asked how I was doing today then asked for permit book license and med card
