Ok so here it is. I have been a contractor for the last 20 years and am thinking about getting my own numbers and finding my own freight. I know my costs for running my business as a contractor but not sure about insurance etc. as a new entrant. I am sure it will be up there!
I am kinda worried about dealing with brokers. No experience with that side of the business but I am sure i will learn lol. I have been reading threads on here about running on your own but it is still scary. I am so used to having some one find freight and running with it. I actually haul LTL medical equipment across the country and the money is good but I think i can do better and not have to work as hard.
So any thoughts or advice?
Authority or not....

What's good money?
$11k a week? -
I know a guy who signed with Progressive 6 mos ago as a new entrant. Decent credit, good mvr, etc. $1,400 a month new KW & used flatbed trailer. That's high, but that was the best rate he could find.

There's carriers out there that pay 85-90% that let you run your own show under their numbers.
It's another option, one I took over getting my authority for many reasons.kwan2323, whoopNride and Doing_flatbed_nc Thank this. -
