That is great advice. Dehydration has been found to impair driving and alertness about the same as if you were driving under the influence. Coffee will dehydrate you. Soda pop will also dehydrate you. Water is by far the best option.

I've had a good relationship with an excellent chiropraactor from the time I started driving till present.
They're sneezed on by the rest of the medical profession, but I've found the best of them a wealth of knowledge on medical issues, nutrition and health.
I usually have an adjustment every 2 months - $35 well spent. He's also good at working out pain in thumbs and wrists, shoulders and legs. He'll show me specific stretches to keep each area that I'm having problems with in check.
That, and the above advice on seating position and driving technique.
Good luck -
Just a matter of sitting back and relax. You're probably sitting on the edge of your seat with your fist balled tight around the steering wheel. Position your seat so your comfortable as if you were in your personal vehicle. Relax, be careful and are but relax

Don't worry neck and upper back pain will go away once you get used to sitting in this position for long hours.I am a new driver and i remember having neck and even arms pain at first but it went away after some time like a month or so.

Make sure you take your wallet out of your back pocket and put it in your front pocket. That alone will screw up your entire ergonomics and will produce a trickle-down effect to other parts of your body , like your neck and back, since these parts of your body are now trying to accommodate something that shouldn't be there in the first place. It took me an entire 9 months of driving to figure this one out, and the sciatica was completely unbearable until I took my wallet out and put it in my front pocket. Also get plenty of rest, don't smoke cigarettes, stay out of gangs, don't do drugs, don't eat the truck stop food, don't mingle with the people at the truck stops, drink your milk and you'll do just fine out there on your own man.
tommymonza, BuckeyeKev and Milkman719 Thank this. -
Make sure your bags are packed though. -
Do some stretching before starting your day. When you stop get out and do some walking. If you can find a big lady trucker ask her if you can bunk with her for the night and see if she will rub your neck.

my tense neck and back muscles are causing a nerve pain in arm and chest, trying stretching and hot showers, no relief any muscle relaxers over the counter ?
Last 2 years always been on driver unload multiple stops . Now otr any suggestions ?Lepton1 Thanks this. -
If you are like me then the issue is in the mind causing muscles to flex for no reason. Self help books may help, getting a massage, or just a vacation relaxing at home with a purring kitty cat or faithful dog. -
YOU ARE IN TRAINING> PLOP HIS LAZY PROFITEERING ### into that right and mark onduty and TRAIN YOU. HELL I'll do it. /rant.
Now the next thing.
Find a doctor that is a MD. Does not matter where, walk in and say you need your C section and upper spine checked for masses, cysts and other problems with that driving experience you are having. If there is a problem as happened to me sseveral times, they will absolutely cut it right out of you then and there.
CHOP.Lepton1 Thanks this.
