Wisconsin maybe a whole different story then DeSoto Texas. I have tried the Clarksville Arkansas Walmart 0.39cpm just didn't cut it. Driver managers in DeSoto Texas 90% are fresh out of college. As any experience driver would know a driver manager will make you or break you. Forget any good long mileage runs all goes on Rails. As for micromanagement? Believe me they will micromanage you! As for per diem pay.. the driver loses 2 1/2 cents off his base pay.

Well we’ll see what happens. I have a bit of money saved up in the 401K. Come April I will have been with Marten 2 years (I still have vacation pay I haven’t used yet from my 1 year mark) and I’m not crazy about jumping from employer to employer(been thinking about going O/O,getting my own truck and maybe put it to work at Marten though).

What’s the tax bracket like in Arkansas?

I recommend LTL then O/O. Marten can't touch what top LTL and even low tier LTL can GUARANTEE!

Tax bracket not the issue here. The issue is per diem screws the driver. On financing Social Security etc. Marten Transport is the only one to gain and we have to pay out of our mileage pay for that, that's outrageous.

You have a point. They do have a per diem cap of $1500. You break the limit and you're free until the next month.

You will be making a grave mistake running owner operator for Martin. $0.89 empty pay... $1.04 a mile loaded if you're lucky.. and that's based off of household carrier guide miles not practical miles.

Rumor Has It Marten hired a CEO from Knight Transportation. If that's the case we will see a big decline which is already starting to happen.

Probably someone to succeed if Randy is incapacitated or dies (he has no children to my knowledge and just fought off cancer a year ago). If that does indeed happen then there might be a mass exodus of good drivers from the company.
