They also may not have that much work either. Maybe he is best off this way. Plus, any company that is super picky like that will fire you for the smallest infractions.

If not mistaken the "law" states 10 year history of "commercial driving," not employment history if you are a new student or recent CDL graduate.

I called Millis just a few days ago and they told me thet need 6 months in the last year. I took 2 years off. This industry really doesn't honor experience. I got 10 years under my belt and comin back to it they act like if ya havent driven in the last month then youve never driven. "Wah wah driver shortage" my ###.

10 year work history for CMV work. 3yrs otherwise is the standard. But a carrier might still want a full dmv abstract since they combine personal vehicle.

Dude I went to a 8week school in 91. Drove 1yr OTR & 5 years local as a IC. No break in driving. Went back OTR & paid another $1,800 & flew to a Voc Tech in Drumwright OK to attend another PDTI 4wk school. This after 6 yrs of driving & already carrying a CDL A TX license Most of these outfits don't even count local work.
2 yr break? Don't know if any big carriers will take you. Might have to look at smaller outfits.
May Trucking accepted me with a 6mo break & an enhanced road test. I got in 6mo's at that ####hole & got back on track. But 2 yrs? Your a student to the Mega's insurance co.

I drove for MILLIS TRANSFER from 1995 to 2003 they were an AWESOME company, until...they opened their own government backed truck driving school then #### hit the fan, they had 1 year guaranteed driver for slave wages with all their graduates. Along with the new trained drivers their accidents skyrocketed! DOT cracked down on em, they started getting rid of the runners and trying to cut our pay n benefits. I made 49cpm @ 4000 mi. Per wk average, no way I was going back to 39cpm so I left.
