Yeah you get a cheap inverter from billybobs inverter store and subway shop, you thinking it is safe to just throw it in but when the positive wire gets chaffed and shorts out because it is pulled too tight and you realize that maybe putting a fuse on the battery side was a good idea as the truck is burning to the ground.
How do truckers power electronics are such in the truck

I'm having difficulty envisioning a properly installed 2500-3500 watt inverter you can just "easily take out before going to the shop, then put back in when you leave the shop" without leaving evidence in view, but okay.
I used to work at a place that had a 200 (or 300?) watt limit on inverters. I don't work their anymore and that was one reason.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
We had freight-liner in Armarillo install our big inverter in the FFE tractor with the blessing of FFE Officers. It was a permanent install. It can be taken out by removing the very large cables to and from it and the battery pack. When we turned in the truck, the inverter stayed with it because of the then new CPAP trend. Im hopeful it helped someone with it that following year.
The small stuff like the laptops and cell phones etc were fed with a properly insulated and fan equipped 300 watt inverter off the main 12 volt in the cab. It finally caught fire in our car about 12 years later it was disposed of. But because it was so good service to us, we would have no trouble buying another exact as a replacement. -

4 gauge. It's very easily to manipulate the wire you think it's one solid coil? Lol. You never seen battery cables before? It's stranded in one jacket.

Holy #### 3500W is 250A at 14V which is at least 4/0 if not even larger. You're the reason they don't want people installing inverters.
Truck running your max suggested watts is under 1000.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2018

Dude, just because I have a 3500 watt inverter doesn't mean I am running 3500 watts continuously. I only used 900w for a short time with a microwave.

I recognize we have sometimes strong feelings and opinions to boot sometimes. That's ok. But try to get it all out in one post ok?
