I'v been driving a very large box truck, it has a literal boot store in the back, for about 7 months now. Last night was the first time I've been pulled over, been inspected, anything like that. After it was all over he gave me a print out and said there were 2 violations but not a citation. I was doing 76 in a 70, trying to get a run for the hill, and a missing battery cover. Do these violations come with a fine like a normal ticket, or do I just lose points?

I made a mistake once and did not draw my line from line 4 to line 3 on my logbook. I got inspected in Oklahoma and the DOT cop listed it on the long form. I never was cited or paid a fine. However the violation was reported to the FMCSA.

I think if you would be fined you wouldve gotten tickets indicating that a fine was involved.

What did he give you...a paper that lists just the inspection and violations, or anything else? That inspection paper will say something about how it has to be sent to the company and then to the state within a certain time period.

If that’s all you got, you’re cool. If he gave you something else with a website address, you’d better get online and check. And if that’s the case, keep an eye on your mailbox at the house.

Maybe it was written up as a warning?
In any case you need to call the court after waiting 24 hours. The wait is to make sure it's in the system...

Not necessarily. Some of them are really hard to catch. You don’t get a citation, you get a website address that notifies you that you have received a citation and you owe this much and it has to be paid by this date or else...

It will be separate from the CMV inspection report. The CMV stuff is usually the same across the board. But if he got a violation for speeding, that will be separate, on a state level. They won’t necessarily give you a citation, they will give you some state goobermint address that when you check it, tells you that you received a citation and you have so many days to pay or show up to court. Or they send it to your home in the mail. And if you stay out for months on end, you can have a warrant or a suspended license and not even know it.

He a actually said to me, "you got 2 violations, but not a citation". The report doesn't say anything about a website that I can see. It says the motor carrier as well as myself must sign the bottom stating violations were corrected and them mailed into them within 15 days.
