At one point, before I started driving, I weighed 325, and that was caused I stopped weighing myself. Now, I am on 6 pills a day. I have lost a lot of weight. I am now in the 240s. But it has been a long hard road. One you don't have to travel if you will watch your diet now. Trust me, you will thank yourself later.
Get the bp under control. Watch your diet, more salads, less fried stuff. More greek yogurt, less ice cream. Sugar free sweets, and more coffee with splenda, and less soda. Though I love Diet Pepsi cause they use splenda. And before anyone starts, my nutrionist said Splenda is the best.
Good luck. If you need more assistance feel free to ask.jammer910Z and tucker Thank this. -
Get serious about losing weight and very likely you won't even need the BP medicine. If you could lose 50 pounds by next year's physical I bet you could stop the medicine and get a 2 year card. Best wishes!

What he said...^^^^^^
This is some of the best advice on the whole thread.
I lost 20 lbs fairly easy just cutting back on breads, potatoes, sugar. If you eat bread my understanding is eat it of the morning. When I got married I was 190 lbs, this morning I'm 239 at 6'-2". But I smoked for 27 yrs then gave it up 10 yrs ago, didn't take long then lol. But I worked a stressful job for 13 yrs and that didn't help, I had Tums bottles everywhere.
Pulled into the Duke to fuel in Newcomerstown the other day, another driver pulled in the fuel island ( out of reach of the pump ) got out and "waddled" inside. By the time I fueled, pulled up, and ran in to pay he came out of the bathroom and parked the truck 200' away. Don't be this guy! Walk that extra step, winter conditions watch your step. It can be done. Good luck and be safe out there.jammer910Z and tucker Thank this. -
Some BP medications can make you impotent, but it's just temporary until you change medicine. If that happens, just tell the doctor you need to change BP meds and why.

It’s so easy to eat healthy now that I pack my lunch and cook all my meals.
OTR=unhealthy -
To answer your question, yes you will get another 3 month.
BUT you need to lose weight and you should do this before you get into a truck, trucking is sitting for 5 to 11 hours with no real activity, and losing weight as a newbie is hard when you need to concentrate on learning your skills. -
One of the hardest things for an OTR driver to do is eat healthy. The average driver does not eat well and does not exercise. Sitting on your butt for 8 to 10 hours a day eating processed foods and sugared drinks is not only going to cause you health problems it can also KILL YOU. I have been around drivers all my life. My father was a driver. My father was born in 1933. The men that he knew that drive along with most of my uncles were all born in that 1930-1945 time frame. EVERYONE of these men are today no longer with us. EVERYONE of them died from some kind of cardiovascular problem. After you go to maybe the 5th or 6th funeral of a driver that died from a heart attack, other heart issue or stroke and watch their kids and grandkids crying something inside you starts to shake in anger. STAY away from most processed foods. STOP drinking those 64 OZ superslams (even diet drinks are bad) WATCH the fat content of the foods you eat and finally START excising the other parts of your body other then your mouth.
When I finally hung it up I was taking BP meds along with some other things. I also lost some weight and today I no longer take any kind of BP meds. On the 15th I had to go to the Hampton Va VA hospital ER because of an emergency issue. The below is the record of my vitals. Losing weight and getting exercise DOES lower BP. FACT not fiction.
