DPF Cleaning Yourself

So you're saying I can go hang out inside a nuclear reactor?

No, cancer is not a comunical disease - however certain actions and exposures are proven to cause cancer. The more carcinogens you are exposed, the greater likelihood youll have cancer.

 

After you clean DPF you have to reset computer and run a forced regen, etc. Basically requires software/laptop to connect to truck ECU and reset parameters.

 

Anyone has done DPF cleaning at T/A. Ive seen them advertise it but not sure how good of a service they do.

 

The machine that cleans it is about 35k....looked at one at Cummins..
It bakes for hours then is flow tested...If it does not pass it is baked and tested again.
And like was said it needs to be installed,A forced regen done and the parameters checked on the inlet and outlet temps..Then the ECM reset for a clean filter....This is the correct way to do it...If the ECM is not reset it can affect fuel-air mixture......This is what a Cummins master tech told me anyway.

 

Cummins and DTNA now say air cleaning is not endorsed. check theirs web sites. they say you must purchase reman filter . And personally I agree with them. Liquid cleaning method will remove all ash sitting there. Bake and blow will not do it.
Clean by using bake and blow method. Then spray with regular garden hose. you will see how much ash is coming out. Try it .

 

How much does a reman filter and service cost at Cummins?

 

It's so funny but yet extremely disappointing to see the reply to this post because some of you are mechanics. My suggestion to member-
Socal Xpress and his video is.........to go back to changing tires and not to recomend anything about the DPFs and such - bevause you dont know nothing my man.

Yes,yes and yes you can clean the DPF and DOC by yourself. Not with water or any liquid whatsoever and not with the air nozzle in your cab ( ive done it pnce but it was an emergency) - the air pressure or volume sinply isn't enough.
I've done it over 50 times for my trucks or other people and 100% success. If anybody have a problem just let me know....i can help

 

how do you clean them ?

 

Maybe if you are spending that much time and labor on cleaning DPF then it's not actually successful?

 

He has a fleet of trucks with a lot of idle time?
