If you are looking to work under someone’s authority, then you are not or you will not be an O/O
Those big companies want you to believe that you are , but believe me they own the operators . You are a driver with more responsibilities . You will work so hard for a penny in comparison of what a real 100% O/O makes.
So my advise to you will be if you don’t feel ready to be an O/O . Park it and drive , learn and save .

I have met a few drivers/O/O at Roadrunner, they seemed to be doing good. They haul quite a bit of expedite freight, which normally pays very good. In a way they are my companies competition. As far as dedicated, I do not believe so. Intermodal is normally bottom of the barrel freight, $1 a mile stuff. I would not get out of bed to haul that stuff. I would sell my truck if that is all that was out there.

I'm leased on under someone else's numbers and not using my own. However, my name is on the door, my title free and clear, my plates, NTL, IFTA, EIN and every other single thing you can expect minus general liability so I guess I'm just a company guy and not really an owner operator. I seriously beg to differ!

Why did you let the super trucking trolls rile you up? Just ignore them and their super condescending opinions.

if you look at it in the right light. Your not the owner. The Truck is the owner. It gets what it needs, It gets what it wants. You do what it wants and makes sure its needs are met.
So if looking at it right, it owns you the owner. Sad but so truck
