The mail does move 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Station drivers that deliver mail during non business hours are given station keys and alarm codes so we can deliver mail and stage it while the station is closed. That way, the mail is sitting there on monday when the clerks come in.

Some of those Post Office stations are pretty creepy at night and would make Steven King proud.

I certainly hope their logistics is better managed than their inside ops... Be glad you aren't suffering from a pending facility closure. I work in one of the last 2 Remote Encoding facilities in the Nation. One in SLC and the other in Wichita, KS. The one in Wichita is slated for closure.

Actually, this is not true. When you start for Walmart Transportation, you are classified as an "extra" driver. This designation means nothing except for the fact that you do not have an assigned truck. However, from day one of orientation, you have full benefits. You do not get performance bonuses, or personal days yet. You do get safety bonuses and paid safety days quarterly, along with your full medical/short term disability/life insurance.

However, I am sure that the USPS is pretty equivalent to Walmart Transportation as far as pay/benefits goes. My worry would be the instability of the Post Office right now. Do they treat their drivers great like Walmart Transportation does?? Just curious.

Is that description a truck driver who works directly for the u.s. post office? Or a subcontract company?

Is it for the actual post office or a p/o contractor?
