Really? I would have taken the higher pay without bonuses.

What I really meant was, what is their drivers median gross yearly. They seem to run a ton of miles.

I refuse to run like a chicken with its head cut off and keep an erratic schedule just to make on time delivery, and you don’t need to run illegal to do it. I had to do this at a previous reefer employer and I refuse to do it again, which is why I asked the questions I asked about how much time Holland gives you to pick up and deliver. Also, one day off for each week out no longer cuts the mustard. One day off for every 6 days out, or 1.5 days for every week out would be much better. I love coast to coast freight as much as the next guy, but I work to live, I do not live to work. If you’ve been in this industry long enough you can find what you want in a company if you’re willing to be patient and look for it. That’s all I’m doing. Some call it being picky, I call it being thorough.

Except you’re scared to run at night, and you consider running an elog , running like a chicken with its head cut off. You get a full 10 hours off so what’s the big deal if you drive when the sun is up or down

Are you able to go sleep on command no matter what time of day whether you’re tired or not? I’ve been in this business 10 years and still can’t do that. I could be the tiredest I’ve ever been in my life but if I go to sleep in the middle of the day I will still be awake 3-4 hours later. Then I’ll be awake for another 7 hours until the end of my break and I’m tired as hell because I don’t operate like a machine. Even before trucking I couldn’t work 3rd shift anywhere. I will not run at night unless I have no other option. Holland claims 30% of their driving is at night, which isn’t bad.

    Zaros and Knucklehead Thank this.

A night or two at a time is fine. Anymore than that and I’m not interested.

K&B Transportation says they are 80% night driving. I wouldn’t last long. Not that I would want to work for them anyway.

I really doubt you'll have a problem at Holland.

Another option is Great Plains. I drove one night in four months. After I explained that I cannot go all night without at least 3-4 hours sleep (I know, that's not all night), I've driven nothing but days.
