    I'm trying to help my parents not get ripped off again moving. 6 years ago they paid over 25k to move from the NE to the SE (about 1100 miles and 4/5 a trailer full). I was hoping to find an O/O hhg mover and not deal with the mega mover sleaze bags.

    They aren't moving very far this time, less than 200 miles. I feel like a fair price would be 4k.

    I guess I don't get why the weight would make a difference. A truck load of toilet paper doesnt cost 25k to move between DC's. I don't even notice less than 20k weight in my tank so I know it isnt fuel economy.

    This is how I figured it:
    2 days pack
    2 days unpack
    1/2 day load
    1/2 day unload
    1/2 day drive

    No warehouse transfer/fees
    200 miles there and back
    $3/mi = $1200 (out-n-back)

    2 packers *$20/hr *8 hours *4 days = $1280

    3 loaders/unloaders *$20/h *12 hours = $720

    packing supplies = $750

    Total = $3950

    What about the use of truck and trailer? That's going to be at least $1200-$1500 per day

    Oldironfan Thanks this.
