    I have no love for modern trucks. I only feel love for old rigs.

    I just ditched my truck at the dealer for emission problems and ubered to my old trusty daycab with no emissions.

    Rolling coal and hauling def tomorrow with some loud jakes. I keep telling my boss to get me a glider.

    I’ve never once been compliant with the eld rule because we keep having issues with the pos so I just use paper and now my truck is down and most likely going to be a fortune to fix because of emissions.

    Oh well, not my problem.

    Well above average pay. I have a spotless record, good customer service skills, and above average critical thinking skills. I expect to be paid accordingly.

    Interesting freight and a diverse trailer pool that includes a few vans as possible. I have never pulled a van and I have a reputation to maintain. No or very little building materials loads. Any other type of open deck freight that is challenging is what interests me.

    A good truck. Something with style and chrome. 13 speed manual or better. (just had to rescue a load from a team and over night it 620 miles for next morning delivery. Their transmission was stuck in reverse and the truck would not start. On a truck with 24k miles) prefer 500 or better Cummins.

    No hand holding. I’m a professional treat me like one. I even have to do nightly check calls on most or my loads but they are for a very “high maintenance” customer, So I’m fine with that. I call my boss he doesn’t call me. There is a difference.

    Rescuing a load from a TEAM?! Whoo that's awesome.

    What did the team do get sick or something? Usually it's the other way round.

    Great post and great responses. Don't know if a new driver could get away with the "asks".
    LOL...and I guess that's why this thread is in the experienced drivers forum. Duh.

    OP, would you mind if I stole your question and posted in New Drivers forum?

    * Home most nights
    * Off weekends. That's get off Friday afternoon, all day Saturday & all day Sunday. I'll come back to work Monday morning.
    * Local/regional (500 miles one way)
    * Good truck. Old or new as long as its nice, clean, comfortable & reliable
    * If I tell you something is wrong with the truck or trailer, it needs to be addressed. Not maybe, not if or but.
    * Has to be able to run at least 3 over the speed limit of the area I run. I need to be able to keep up with other traffic. Especially the ones with naked ladies in them.
    * I am an average driver, I expect at least average pay. I'm safe but I am not OTR & dont know a lot about certain area's of the lower 48, most large cities, the northeast or California etc. So, I dont consider myself a top driver because of that, therefore I dont expect top pay.

    * As others have mentions, dont micro manage me. Give me a load & I'll take care of it. If something happens, I'll call you. If it cross's your mind; "I wonder how TC is doing?", just ask yourself if you have heard from me. If you havent, you know everything is on schedule with no issues. No point in you calling me.

    Treat me like you want to be treated & I'll treat you like I want to be treated.

    The more feedback the better I say! I hear you with new drivers. At the same time there are basic needs that people need to get by, and in my opinion, not just get by but live comfortably, especially here in California.

    Sounds like heaven. I can hear a CAT hiding amongst a group of D13's and DD12's. Something about that sound just makes me happy. I'm not so good identifying those older mechanical motors by sound, but I can tell you the difference between a NXS, MXS, BXS, STP, MBN and 6NZ.

    I'm still trying to tell the old engine sounds. The new ones I don't care so much. I still have not heard a 2 stroke Jimmy roar past me on the hwy.

    So...for the experienced professionals in the crowd, are these job criteria a pipe dream for the new drivers in the crowd?
