jmo, i went local in dec. & its still not worth it. i am at home everynite but, still 10 plus hrs 5 to 6 days a week. just not worth it imo. been patiently waiting for a non trucking job. lol glad to hear your success story. many a safe mile to you.

Trucking is not bankers hours, but then I make quite a bit more then the typical teller. If I didn't truck I don't know what I would. The typical factory job around here is usually a temp service with very low pay, like sub minimum wage bad.

Nope. I drive "local" (although it really is more regional) and our turnover is insanely high. People can't take the hours. Local gigs usually burn up your 14 (or 15 if you're in Texas) hour clock and you generally only get a 10 hour break. Throw in commute time, eating dinner, taking a shower, and getting ready for the next day and you only really get about 5 to 6 hours of sleep, if you're lucky. Add to that the fact that one day you'll work from 0700 to 2200, then later that week your yard time could be 0100 and you can see why folks don't last.
I happen to love the job, the pay and the benefits so the hours are a mere inconvenience to me. -
