Are those hours too long for you? if you can't hang with 10 plus hours for 5-6 days you're definitely in the wrong industry. Imho

There is part time trucking. They do exist. Had a retired guy doing weekend linehaul runs. Company doesn’t mind cause they don’t have to pay bennies.

Trucking is not bankers hours, but then I make quite a bit more then the typical teller. If I didn't truck I don't know what I would. The typical factory job around here is usually a temp service with very low pay, like sub minimum wage bad.

How does ltl have 10 percent turnover
    When there always hiring.
Some are even hiring students now when
It used to 3 years expierence to get in the door.
    10 percent is a lie.

Nope. I drive "local" (although it really is more regional) and our turnover is insanely high. People can't take the hours. Local gigs usually burn up your 14 (or 15 if you're in Texas) hour clock and you generally only get a 10 hour break. Throw in commute time, eating dinner, taking a shower, and getting ready for the next day and you only really get about 5 to 6 hours of sleep, if you're lucky. Add to that the fact that one day you'll work from 0700 to 2200, then later that week your yard time could be 0100 and you can see why folks don't last.

I happen to love the job, the pay and the benefits so the hours are a mere inconvenience to me.

I agree with ACO, I'm able to tough it out on the OTR side working for CRST money. Once I reach a full year experience and obtain X/T endorsements I'll be moving onto my next gig doing the same amount of work or less but being payed wayyy more. Now that motivates
