Amazing how many of you folks don,t get the whole thing??? WM makes a big splash about raising wages and then closes 63 Sams and basically gets rid of all those associates, while anouncing a 1K$ payout, but only to those with 20 years in company. The average store person might see $400! While your doing your own inbounds, fueling and washing your truck and NOT being paid for it, don,t spill any fuel, or drive off with a hose attached because it will be a step or worse! Wonder what will happen, if the trailer you inbounded, goes out next day loaded and has a breakdown and causes a crash and people are hurt or worse? Will the lawyers come after you and sue you and your family if you missed a problem?. I bet WM don,t help you there either. A lot to think about.All be cause they are cheap, and really you are a disposable entity to them.

 

I make more than enough for what we do. And paid for far more activities than 99.99999% of the industry.

If you pull off with hoses in your tank it should be a step 3 and you can become a customer.

Why did I say that twice because I do not think some people were aware of this based on the thoughts that you personally would be sued for an equipment failure. That possibility has always existed.

A) As mentioned YOU WERE, AND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PRETRIP AND POST TRIP ON ANY TRAILER YOU HOOK TO!

B) You have nowhere near the money of Walmart. The lawyers are not going to come after you and your $1.47 in the bank account. They will target, as they always have, Walmart Inc looking for the big payday. Something you can not provide. Further if another driver pulled out a trailer and had an equipment failure it would be on him/her for not catching it during their pretrip they are required by regulation and policy to perform.

C) All of these displaced people are being offered severance, other opportunities in the company, or a combination of the two. Fuelers at Bentonville were given 60 days paid to find a new position. That is two months off with pay to find something else they want to do, or to find a new company.

Same for most of the Sam's Club associates.

 

You seriously need to get your facts straight. Both FedEx and UPS pay very comparable saleries, and there are others. And, if you make THAT much money, I,m guessing you should have more than $1.47 in your bank. If you are involved in a legal altercation such as mentioned, I can promise you, WM already has a file on you, and will terminate you quicker than you can possibly believe. Most of us who have been around a while, have seen this many times. Your only as good as your last trip, just be warned. I too, 20 years ago, was on top of the world when I was hired, even more when I finally got my own truck. Think you have it made, with all these changes taking place, you will be lucky to still be a WM driver next year! Sorry bro, but the facts don,t lie. I sincerely wish you well.

Ups yes, Fed ex not so much. Most are IC and get nothing but headache of paying for everything out of their pockets, meeting strict tight appointments. Thus why they drive 65mph in a school zone, construction zone, narrow 2lane gravel road, parking lots, during inclement weather and wind up greasy side up in the ditch, or median and such.

 

Quite possibly. However I do not have the billions of Walmart. No lawyer is coming for me over them. Those vermiin work on contingency.

As for cutting me loose and having a file. Of what? If you have your #### together you can stand on your own. And I recommend you do. I have and will continue to run my camera. I control that evidence. I keep records of everything involved that I do. Tractor assignment, load sheets, green bars, phone conversations, odd load, every time I have to sign, confirm, or accept anything I keep a copy for my defense.
