Coming soon....electronic pedometers to be worn by drivers to track their movements while on foot looking for an empty, walking to the shipping/receiving office, or pre-tripping.

Soooo glad I escaped the eBS.....

There is a yard move option for use on private property that is on duty not driving in the regs. Not all companies are using it.

You're asleep dreaming another trucker asks if you can pull forward out of the fuel island, while still asleep you hop into the drivers seat, start up the truck & move forward several feet triggering the ELD to the drive line, you wake up suddenly and realize you're screwed because your sleep driving just screwed up your 10 hour break!

Did the mandatory training and there was no mention of yard moves as an option with Schneider.

I pushed the gas a little too hard in my 2 mile adventure across the Consignee's yard.

I do agree that all of this is ridiculous though. Alright, log my time driving in a yard on Line 3. At least give let it automatically trip back to Line 4 when it senses that I've slowed down below a certain threshold. I can't keep changing lines while I'm working on dropping a trailer, finding the new trailer, and hooking up to it. You're going to be forgetful at least once out of a hundred times you do that.

The thing is, is that it's not falsifying if it hurts you in the end, is it?

And we trying to justify working more on a 11 hour driving day done within 16 hours because we are being pushed to get that load which is booked real tight while the rest of the company is sleeping in their own bed just steps away from a toilet and shower. sure slaves make up more time to do more work for the same pay.

I will give you real life example. I was doing 34h cycle restart, and started doing my Pre-trip inspection probably like 5-10 minutes before “I was legally allowed to” (yes, please jail me). Than, without thinking much I went to test the brakes, and pulled forward a little to test trailer brakes (you know, thal little handle on the dash). While doing that that elog box said: “gothcha sir, you are driving!”.
There was no way I actually excited 5mph, but it caught me anyway.
I was fortunate enough it happened exactly 1 minute after the clock actually got reset. If it was 61 seconds earlier, I would sit there a little bit longer than I intended. And there was no way to edit that. That’s what I’m talking about.

But hey, if you like eld, it’s ok. I still think what I think about it.

well we remain on aobrd and will until the end of the exception period in 2019( ltl company I now work for). The only truck we would get with eld are ones we ADD to the fleet. the replacement trucks will have the aobrd switched out between trucks. as such we still have the little flexibility in movement to do certain things not on line 3 that this system provides.

so really what you guys are saying then is its an unintended LOGGED move. reality is they ARE intended. None or very few of us are used to this level of accuracy eld's capture. but we all will learn and get used to it soon enough.
