Ex driver that went into office back in 2005. After many years I gave up on the corporate ### kissing. I use to long to smell the diesel and fell the motor vibrations.. Hmmmm
Anyhow.
I finally grew some balls and established a little sense and walked away before it was to late.
So my questions right?
2007 Pete 386 ISX Cummings 475. 600,000 miles no DPF or DEF.. Clean but will need a little work.
Or
2011 Freightliner Cascadia double frame 440000 miles with DD15 475 DPF and DEF..
Does one out way the other?
2011 All problems worked out? Maybe?
2007 NO DPF and DEF at all..
I like the idea of lower miles but I'm scared of the past problems with DPF and DEF

If you go with the DPF, Def truck make sure all the filters and pieces are always in top shape while you have down time, have those worked on when you have a little time at the ol fishing hole so you do not waste that time in a shop on the road.
-
Scared to death of this game, now a days! -
OK neither.
First thing that sticks out is the ~60k a year of usage. Low mileage doesn't equate into trouble free.
Second is that it doesn't matter what it is, emission or pre-emission truck, both have issues with them.
Third - do you need a double frame?
Do your Due Diligence.Dan.S and strollinruss Thank this. -
Um, great you made a change, but what do you plan to do with it? Remember, it's a lot easier getting into it, than getting out.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I would not option into the non DEF truck, the Cascadia, I drove one at Valley Bulk was a real good ride, till the pittmarm shaft snapped at the steering gear box. That was in dec 2013, the truck is still running and looking good up and down 99 central cal.

I would think it over a little bit. Any chance there is a oppertinity to do away with the DEF and DPF and all the risks that go with them.
Don't fixate on 60K miles a year. It's what we put on our personal car so far. -
Wow I thought I drove my car a lot. LOL
The reason I bring it up is I've looked at trucks that looked great, was about 60 or 50k a year on the clock but when they were put on the dyno, they had high blowby and showed signs of abuse in the OA.
If you get maintenance paper work, which seems to be the go to for many, doesn't always accurately how well the truck was taken care or driver.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I should have hung onto that #### Mav. But it could not be depended on with that 2 barrel locking up in fog season then cold noon and she aint starting tonight. Wait until tomorrow. (A big 4 barrel holley would have fixed that. but I knew nothing then...) -
60K a yr with a double frame and 475 HP engine ? Smells of a heavy hauler, but, not necessarily a bad thing. Could be a lot of empty mi. too
