Once you have a Private Pilot Lic. You just dont give it Up or loose it. It is for Life time of the holder.
Keep your Third Class Medical Up to date. Go do your Biennial Flight Review (every Two Years), even if its been 2 or more years You have not Fly. The Only way you LOOSE it is if You show a Medical condition that would discualify you to Fly until you are "Fixed up" by your Doc. Once you take your biennial and the Instructor signs your Logbook, You are good to excersise the privilege. Then keep it Update by Doing Three Take off's and Three Landings to a Full Stop, within 90 days. EASY...!!!
If.....you ONLY had a Student Pilot Certificate...?! Then it is another process. OR.....You can Learn to Fly Ultralights, its cheap and FUN.!!! 2013-04-13 11.21.19.jpg

I'll have to check on that. It was way back in the early to mid 80's, and I was Solo. My instructor was a stunt pilot, and I had a BALL doing various maneuvers, even though they were all for safety's sake. Of course, we didn't do any immelman turns, or barrel rolls, the airframe wasn't made for that. Never once needed the barf bag!

Always wanted to get back into that, just can't afford it yet. Planes are expensive, renting or owning. Hanger fee's, inspections, mandatory overhauls, etc., not to mention AV gas.

Best thing for You....Join a Flight Club at your Home Town Airport. You end up paying around $85.00 X Hr. WET on a Cessna 172.(maybe even Less). One hr flights are great to practice manuevers and Take off and Landings. Flying airplanes is very much like driving Bicycles....Once you Go Solo...you never Forget.

Being new to this forum, I'm sure there is some way to PM on this site since we are drifting somewhat from the subject of this thread.

If I wasn't older, I would consider going through the hoops to the ATP stage, but getting back up to a decent salary can take 10 years, then there's paying off all of the costs.
I am still in good health and should pass a level 1 med exam.

Now I flew a Cessna once, then switched to Archers, and Warriors. The Cessna was too "boring" (I was young back then), you could just barely stall it. The Archers and warriors were a lot more fun.

Interesting.........I can tell you, Cessnas are great Planes, You Install a STOL kit and you can Land in extremely short runways Or just River banks and Beaches. Then You take on a Cessna Caravan....Now thats a Work horse, just "Big Papa" of Cessnas. Great Payload, Flying into Jungles to deliver Food, Medication and Supplies around the World. Being Turbo Prop it prepares You to Transition into the Cessna Citation. Now once you get there, You are Nothing but an "Air Taxi driver" LOL. You go into part 135 operations. Your Job?? Taxi humans with extreme $$ resources that want to Travel One thousand miles in TWO hours and Yes..!!! after the Flight, you have to clean the Cabin, Bar, Restroom and kitchen, for the next flight. ( just like, Limo drivers, Coach drivers and so many others)
Cessnas...Boring...!!!??? Naaaaa. About ATP ( Air Transport Pilot) once you get to 1,200 hrs of flight time( in the 90's) Today, I think it was raised to 1,500 hrs, then You can Go to the Big Airlines.....Now That's a Boring Job....that's another Thread. The best to you...! HAPPY TRAILS...!!!

In training, they used the smallest cheapest Cessna's, which were boring back in the eighties. If I had the opportunity to step up, I'm sure the better Cessna's would be fun and rewarding to fly.

They were always having to put the control cables back on the pulleys too. Come to think of it, I switched flight schools after that, and that's when I began taking instruction from the stunt pilot. LOL
