Also would the driver be exempt on both ends of the trip. Driver loads at point A, delivers 1000 miles to point B.. returns empty to repeat. Several loads.
ThanksOldironfan Thanks this. -
When logging, I make my drivers log a pretrip at the beginning of the non-exempt part, like in the log page above.
My only question is why are you going into the sleeper at 3 pm? -

Just so you know..
Planting and harbesting season in WI is March 15 to November 15. Can't use the 150 mile ag exemption there for another few weeks.

Here is the regulation, it's fairly short and concise.
(k) Agricultural operations. The provisions of this part shall not apply during planting and harvesting periods, as determined by each State, to drivers transporting
(1) Agricultural commodities from the source of the agricultural commodities to a location within a 150 air-mile radius from the source;
(2) Farm supplies for agricultural purposes from a wholesale or retail distribution point of the farm supplies to a farm or other location where the farm supplies are intended to be used within a 150 air-mile radius from the distribution point; or
(3) Farm supplies for agricultural purposes from a wholesale distribution point of the farm supplies to a retail distribution point of the farm supplies within a 150 air-mile radius from the wholesale distribution point. -
Just doing what the fleet owner told me to do.

I haul cattle. You are exempt 150 air miles from the source of commodity(load point) you are exempt from HOS. Once you reach 150 air miles start your log, you are under HOS rules at that point forward. Now if say you have started you log then( using cows as an example) you stop to load more. At this point it pauses your log for another 150 air miles. Basically it acts just like 8 hours in sleeper when doing multiple pickups. Once empty you are still under HOS rules with whatever time you have remaining. Of course when you get to within 150 air miles of next load unless something says otherwise you go back under exempt. Which is shown as off duty. When exempt unless you want to nothing needs to show on log.
Oldironfan and xsetra Thank this. -
Exemption starts ,running empty, 150 miles from the loading area. Exemption continues during loading and thru driving loaded to the limit of 150 miles.
The exemption does not apply on the delivery end of a round trip?
Round trip, loaded one way empty coming back.
