I have a buddy that has been with crst Malone leasing for 2 years now. He has said nothing but good and I trust his word. I am calling them in the morning to look about getting on with them.
I have been driving louisiana to Texas 300 miles (600 a day $1200/w) for the past 4 years. I have been in a truck all together 6 years ( Feb 2012) 1 3/4 otr.
As I see oldog and gregbo has not yet said 1 major thing bad thing about this company has boosted my confidence and/or trust in my freind/ pre co-worker.
I read this entire post from page 1. I seen 2 bad comments. 1 seem to be disgruntled and other genuine according to csa score.
I have ran flat bed only once, from Cali to Arizona with a transport company I was with at the time. The load was already waiting for me "secured" and ready. Half way thru the trip load started to shift and I was clueless how to fix it. Luckily a buddy ( guy who trained me in cdl school Jan 12 - Feb 12) was in the area and helped me get it correctly secured.
Ever since then I have been warry of flatbed, but you can do it so can I. I'm willing to learn flat bed. As I've been pulling a reefer behind me for last 4 years (tanker 1 year rest is random) I'm looking forward to the work out.
What are some things I should be aware of aware of getting into flat bed. I see alot of flat beds everyday and been paying close attention to load type and securment process rather be chains or straps. Also from talking to other drivers, loads are mainly south to east coast.
I read a lot of horrible and scary stuff about leasing a truck. I'm sure most of it is people are to lazy and trying to catch the get rich train out of station 19 or people not giving it there all trying to take it easy. If you had to do it all over again, would you?

I'm married with 2 beautiful daughter. Has leasing ever caused a serious strain between you and family. When/if times got really hard and you where not sure how you was going to put food of the table for the next week for the loved ones at home.
I'm looking foward to providing a future not a failure. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. -
What your buddies success in his business doesn't mean crap to your business. Your trucking experience doesn't mean crap, if you don't know how to manage a business.
Your business is your mistress. Your business feeds your family, you feed your business. Your child's birthday? Doesn't matter. Your anniversary? Doesn't matter. Christmas? Doesn't matter. Because if the business fails, you fail and you fail your family.
Will it put a strain on your family? Only you can answer that. How capable are you of managing a business and balancing the needs and desires of your family?SteeringWheelHolder411 and oldog1984 Thank this. -
bad csa scores also effect what frieght you get too..

I seen on the orientation program for Malone they had listed the agality test . What is that ? I’m leased to a Crst company and they do not have this test .

Hey oldog1984 I have used a load board before at another company. Is the Malone board similar? I read somewhere some guys were using a outside load board too , if that’s true what board would you suggest ?
oldog1984 Thanks this.
