It's mandatory because you are working under the union's contract. Most of the employees in that company voted in favor of union representation. What is not mandatory is that you have to work for a union company.
Go work for a non union if you don't like it. No one is forcing you to do anything.

As for Obama comment im not going there because it becomes too political. But I will say the last 8 years were great compared to the previous 8.

I don't have to put a "political spin" on unions. They do it all on their own. LIUNA and Teamsters both made it VERY clear where they were politically. They also make it VERY clear their entire operating structure is Socialist. Like I said, you need to do some major reading. You choose not to? I posted a little piece of History for you above but you chose to ignore it. Doesn't fit your narrative; does it? No problem but I won't sit here and debate the obvious with you. It's entirely too much like clapping with one hand. You're a Socialist. You've made that clear. Anyone that understands Socialism and it's roots knows what's happening and that's all that matters. Maybe you'll wake up one day too. I hope so at least.

Unions are a private enterprise of many people standing as one for strength. You are against that because you bought in the b.s that you are better fighting alone.
You also bought into the pipe dream of free market capitalism. It only works on paper. In the real world it creates an even worse case of crony capitalism than what we have today. We already have legislators that pass laws in favor of corporations that they later on go work for.
We already seen what big banks do when there's no oversight. They cheat and steal from people and other organizations. You create a society where corporations can use their money more freely as power.
And anything less in your eyes is big bad socialism.

Me personally i like a balance of powers. Unions bringing balance. So does government.
You take away any of those and you get a lobsided accumulation of power.
All you're doing is going against one extreme with another and pretty much ending up with the same problem. Just different entities.

If you don't like unions. So be it. But don't call yourself an American while rooting or wanting someone else's rightto be in one abolished.

When/if you become a business owner come back and tell how great Socialism is. What unions were in the 30's are NOT what they are today. They have been infiltrated and perverted to serve a much darker mission. I posted so many great reads above yet you continue to ignore the elephant in the room. You clearly refuse to see just how deep the Red rabbit hole goes my friend. Also, the last time I checked the Bill of Rights doesn't mention being a member of a infiltrating political cancer cell like a union. Please. Stop.

Only thing perverted is your thinking of unions.
There is no elephant in the room. It is in your head.
I will never change your extremist views not do I care to.
I'll just continue my union job and watch you cry about it and spew evil propaganda about it.

The companies that offer the most, have a long list of people waiting for someone to retire or die so they can get hired. Those companies have the highest standards for who they hire, they don't need to advertise, and there is practically zero turnover.

The companies that offer the least, are desperate to keep their trucks filled, and are willing to hire anyone that can pass a drug test. Always advertising on Craigslist and huge turnover rate at companies like this.

Happy drivers are productive, safe, and loyal drivers. Schneider could learn from this.
Old Dominion and Pitt Ohio are non-union, yet driver turnover is low. Gee, I wonder why...
    Pay attention Schneider....

I don't believe in a minimum wage either. I do believe in the opportunity for anyone with the desire to prove their worth. I personally have been fortunate to never have to rely on artificial boundaries. I was beating that system cutting grass in my neighborhood with a push mower and rake in 1982.
