Just wanted to update what was going on with me and school start. I asked if it could work out a deal to get off for my daughters wedding. And the the response was just as @FalconsFan21 said. There was not going to be a problem as long as I talked to dispatch and my trainer. All was well I thought until I was confronted last Sunday night. Basically was told that if I wanted to continue you my happy life I would wait before I started driving. SO... wedding is the 28th of April and class now starts the 7th of May. Much later than I wanted to but in the end everyone will be happy. The hole time Millis never had a problem with any of it. Wow. I can't wait to get started. Thank you guy. Be safe out there...

You’re welcome, I knew it wouldn’t be a problem with Millis, but it’s a smart move to put it on hold to make your family happy. You will have much better success mentally and stress-wise if your family back home is on-board with you and supportive. Millis will do all they can to work with you, working things out at home is on us and can sometimes be a little tricky, so it’s good you are starting out on the right foot. Be sure and keep us posted and good luck with everything related to the wedding!! :)

    Hey guys, couple questions.
Millis is forced dispatch that ever give you a problem? Get screwed by it etc?
Is it true they have driver facing cameras with mics in the trucks? Something I read on here.
I have read form other drivers on here they never touched a load in 2-3 years driving for Millis
then others say they have so which is it?
I was told 60-70% drop and hook.
    What is the other 30%
Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes, driving facing cameras with mics.
Other 30% is lumpers doing live unloads.

Just because it's not a drop and hook doesnt mean its a lumper live unload. If its not a drop and hook then its a live unload at customer. You will not touch freight here except strapping your beer loads.

    Airmech and Waterboy334 Thank this.

And the forced dispatch is whatever. If your dispatcher gives you a load then you do it. Its a job and we've all done loads we didnt like but its part of the job. You can refuse Long Island

    Airmech Thanks this.

The experience that you have with your dispatcher here will completely depend on your work ethic. Forced dispatch has never been an issue for me, Opie treats me very well. Sometimes (not often) I'll even get offered a choice of loads. Your experience may vary. The cameras are no biggie, you'll get used to them after a bit. I've been here for 19 months now, never touched a single load. Except for strapping beer, as @keen98 mentioned. I'd say that I'm at about 60% drop and hook. I haven't had a lumper load in so long I can't even remember the last one.

The whole "forced dispatch" makes me laugh. I mean if you'r at a different job and your boss says "hey Joe Blow, i need you to go run this machine today" are you going to tell him no? No you're going to do what your boss asks you to do. Trucking is no different . Start turning down loads or #####ing about them to your dispatcher and you will quickly become a terminal or truck stop junkie cuz you wont be getting jack to run

And also 99% of the time I've done a "crappy load" or a short load to help my dispatcher out, guess what follow it? A nice gravy 900+ mile load. Its all about helping each other out

So very true, all that. I love your statement on "forced dispatch". I always get killer loads if I get a "bad" load. Sometimes dispatchers need a hand getting stuff delivered. It just needs to get there, and someone needs to take it. I always get payback for that. And typically I'll also get a "thank you" message on the Qualcomm :)
