Think you've summed it up quite nicely Etosha. I don't think I need to add anything at all!

My husband's a Canadian living in the States, he learned to drive in Ontario, but he's been in -50 weather for a couple for weeks. He thought it would be cool to do that since he's never done that before. He has NO problem at driving in bad weather, he just slows down. If it gets unsafe, he stops.

Hi semijoesd,
What do you do about your CDL? Do you exchange it back and forth? If so, that's a nice money maker for both government's, eh?

I want to thank you WildKat for sharing your knowledge of the ice roads with us. It is great to hear about it from someone who actually does it, and is not in Hollywood. Again Thanks.
Big Duker, Baack, Etosha and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hi Wild cat can you give a bloke any inside info on contacts on how to get into this ice drivng? Iv'e done nealy everything else from roadtrains in Aussie for 17 years to Europe for a couple of years now in New Zealand for the last few years. This is going to haunt me untill I get it done at least once.

As far as I know, you have to be a Canadian Citizen to get a job on that, from what I understand they aren't allowed to hire foreign drivers, and most of the reputable companies have the same drivers that come back year after year, and the ones that I know have 10+ years experience just with the Ice Roads. Of course there are "some" very disreputable companies...like on that stupid show who will hire any moron out there, but usually they get themselves banned pretty quickly.
The Challenger, Joetro and Big Duker Thank this. -
Wildkat Thanks this.
-
Good to see you, Wildkat. How've you been?
Wildkat Thanks this. -
I saw the show or at least part of it and didn't think alot of it as far as any good they done for the industry. Typical of people that done give a crap and are just in it for a buck. Mean while the screw over alot of people who are there for thew wright reasons. Thanks for your answers I wanted to do this about 10 years ago but married and all but now no ties as such, who knows what the new year will bring. I want to get out of New Zealand as they are all a little touched and wouldn't know a real truck or days work if it bit them on the but
