my tv reception sucks!!!

Power antenna!

The DTV's need a powered Antenna, From my understanding at least.

 

have you tried new coax just like with your radio if one component is junk your transmit receive suffers

 

I went through this years ago, I had an amplified antenna and the signal still sucked. I went with a DirecTv system. I bought a system that offered a rebate, I mounted the dish behind the sleeper on a mast I made out of EMT. I welded a pair of muffler clamps to flat stock, drilled a pair of holes in each, and bolted them into the fairing mounts on the left side of the rear of the bunk.
When I park, I turn the driver's side mirror in just a tad, I enter the zipcode or latitude & longitude into the dish receiver, I stand on the deck plate to set the angle on the dish, tighten the wing nuts, then loosen the clamps, push the dish up above the roof, turn the mast to the desired heading, watching the signal strength on the television in the driver's mirror. Then tighten the clamps. It takes less time to point my dish than it took to type this post.

 

the coax is the black wire that is in the tv cubby. also try getting your antenna outside the truck most walmarts carry a outside antenna that is meant to be mounted that and a couple of U bolts and a hand rail or a mirror bracket should get you better reception the problem could also be in the tv itself

Powered antenna -- amplified signal

If your TV isn't digital, you won't be watching squat, as far as broadcast TV goes in February. Unless you bought an adapter. Or live close to the Mexican border.

More or less, digital signal tv's will benefit from an external antenna designed for digital reception. Others will argue any antenna will do. To those I offer the use of the antenna from my car am/fm for their CB.

Even at the SFS yard, reception can/is based on the area of the yard you are parked on. With digital, you have it or you don't. You do have some low powered signals that attempt to get through. But the pixalization, is horrible and not worth trying to watch.

If the planned satellite is completed. Your CB is next. It will have to be digital too. Otherwise, it will be useless.

 

Short answer, go to RadioShack, BestBuy, or somewhere else with a good return policy. Tell them what you need. Get a powered antenna. A powered antenna has an amplifier built into it. Try it. If it does not work, return it. Repeat until a good result is found.

Unfortunately, this is the most accurate way to do this. All of the coverage maps out there are estimates at best. You could also find that if you move 5 feet in one direction, the situation changes, due to atmospheric propagation, ducting, co-channel interference, metal buildings, hills and valleys, and weather conditions.

An extreme example: I was living in Mobile, listening to an FM radio station out of Biloxi as I was driving home one night. As I pulled into the driveway, the Biloxi station was replaced by another station on the same frequency from Orlando. I backed up 3 feet, heard Biloxi, moved forward 3 feet, heard Orlando. Both signals (on FM) were clear as a bell, no static. This was ducting and propagation at work. I was fascinated. It lasted about 10 minutes or so, then Biloxi won for good.

 

i use the "rabbit ears" type truck TV antenna.ditched the short ones that come with it and put 4-ft CB antennas on it works ALOT better. and like quoted above, sometimes i will pull up or back a fot or 3 to get better reception. or just change spots completely. actually, i haven't watched it in months. i got my laptop, aircard and unlimited movies on netflix (899 a month)

 

I just bought a Pete 379 and a 19 inch LCD to put in it. It has the built into the sleeper antenna setup, is this any good or do I need to upgrade to a better antenna?
