So what you are saying is Schnieder as part of the ATA helped pushed this ruling through but now are grandfathered. Meanwhile independents will have to be Eld compliant. Sounds fair to me. You get to dodge the bullet while everyone else takes it in the chest. I fully agree with your premise though. The whole thing is mind boggling.

The outfit I am with put a line 5 on the ELD, personal conveyance. As long as we are not under dispatch we can go wherever we want, no mileage cap. When we run out of hours while loaded, they have us complete the load, then we can hit line 5 and go wherever we want to park. Works for me. I do short haul, average load is 100 miles or less.

There is a yard move status built into the regulatiin. If folks spent 1/4 of the time they do writing ignorant BS, actually reading the regulation they would know this.....

Well, we cannot just park the truck when we get held up at a shipper. There is an automotive plant on the other end waiting for these parts. One example, I was in Auburn Hills MI picking up axle parts at Dana. The load had to go 38 miles to Chrysler Truck in Warren MI. Dana held me for 5 hours building parts as the plant requested. I was at 15 hours on my clock when I left Dana. I delivered, did my job and the plant kept working. That is typical of what I do daily, I rarely leave the state of Michigan.

Yep keep bending over for shippers. And then whine when the fines get your company bankrupted. Good plan putting it on a public forum people like Bart Durham and PATT and CRASH cite when discussing violation of 395. Intentional violation of 395.

SMDH. Allowing them to hold a truck, and bragging about doing it........

    If you can
It's so much easier to just parrot what I hear and belch about it though. What specific reg do you refer to for this one? I'm a steering wheel holder but I can read good.

The ELD doesn't shut your truck off. You can still drive, while listening to the ELD yell at you that you're violating HOS rules. There's a volume control that you can use to turn the voice off, so you won't hear it yelling at you while you're driving to your parking spot.

When you park, simply select the 'off-duty' or 'sleeper berth' options. After 10 hours, you'll be good to drive again.

When safety calls to ask what happened, tell them. You'll be told to try not to let that happen again.

    What was the question again?
