I was just curious where 15s fall in and figured youd be in the highest, if not leading the pack, range. Ive been watching my numbers for when im able to go performance. Currently at 7.3 but working to bring that up.
Also found out why drivewyze doesnt work on my truck. Magnum hasnt purchased it for my vehicle, even though they switched everything over.Zata40 Thanks this. -

I'll tell you what's going through my head as I'm getting up to speed...
When I'm stopped, I literally tell myself "I'm in a truck. Trucks are slow. Trucks are meant to be slow. So I should be taking off slower than everyone else." Just accept the role and own it. I literally say things along those lines to myself in my head every time I'm stopped. Instead of trying to beat everyone, I'm literally trying to be the slowest. I never said I wasn't weird...
I start in 2nd when loaded, start in 3rd when empty (I bump them up one if I'm stopped while going down hill).
1-5 I shift between 1300-1500 rpm.
6-9 I shift between 1500-1700 rpm.
At highway speeds, I go to 10th gear when I reach 60mph. Or I'll go to 10th if the speed limit is 55mph.
On uphills, I downshift at 57, 46, 35mph. I floor it going uphill. I understand that's what people say not to do... But I don't argue with results lol when I say up hill, I mean any time my truck can't maintain the current speed while I have it floored. Not necessarily just in long, steep grades... Any hill at all.
I literally watch my tachometer when I'm shifting. When I say I down shift at 57...I don't mean 58 is close enough. I'm super anal about it.
I can't explain all this stuff, it's just what my trainer taught me and it's what I've always done.
I do it exactly how I did in my trainer truck. I can't tell you how many times people have told me "that's exactly what I do" or "I do those things too." But I did it that way in 2 different trucks and got the same results. So I have a hard time believing people are accurately doing the same things I'm doing. Do I always perfectly shift every time? No... I sometimes get it to early or too late. But those are the things I look at and strive for.
I don't really think about improving my shifting much anymore, because this has been working for me.
But if you just got 7.3 then you're doing better than me! Maybe I should be coming to you for help!Last edited: Mar 20, 2018
