Intermodal have a substantial steel frame around the tank. Nothing protrudes below the unit.

I can only recall a handful of times over the last five years where pulling forward to fill the reefer wasn’t possible because of the other trucks… One remedy I use is every time I get fuel for the truck, I get fuel for the reefer… So if this does happen I can just get it at the next fuel stop

The company I work for now has 100 gallon fuel tanks on the reefer ..... so it’s not an issue if I don’t fill it when I get fuel... I can go all week if I want LOL

I've seen a couple of spread-axle reefers that did the opposite - the tank was mounted much further back, closer to the front axle than the landing gear. They had big tanks, and were probably mounted that way to take advantage of the weight bonus you get running a spread.

You must not ever fuel at a Pilot. I can't imagine TA, Petro, or Loves being any different. Nobody ever pulls up far enough for a reefer behind them to be able to fuel their reefer unit. Most of them pulling reefers should know better but they typically don't do it either. I don't consider it a huge problem just more of a reflection of the overall poor attitude and lack of respect most people have anymore.

That’s usually where I fuel, Pilot or Flying J. Almost always, the truck in front of me pulls off before I am done fueling the truck. It happens, sure. But for me it’s quite rare... maybe 1 time in 30?? If not more...Maybe I pick good times to fuel and good locations. I avoid the super busy cluster#### locations and times...
I’m not going to let an occasional inconvience make me the one with the poor attitude. #### happens sometimes.

So I guess you all have no clue as to why some officers check the color of the fuel in your tractor tanks?

Most gas station simly don't have enough room/space to pull so far ahead after fueling , and not block drive way at the same time
