I worked there a few years ago. Truck won't allow you to idle between 31-69 degrees. 30 and below it'll let you idle, 70and above it'll let you idle...
Had a Volvo, often times I'd waste like 15 minutes hoping that the temperature would touch 70 degrees when it was often 68-69 in socal but still hot af. I'd park it facing the sun so the sensor would get hotter etc... Just a PITA of working for the megas... Get your year and look for greener pastures.
Companies that don't allow idling.

It's nice to not have to worry about things like this. We don't have to idle, bc trucks runs all the time with teams.

Own your own ride no worries.

Before we got APU's I idled when ever I thought It was needed. This temp. range thing is stupid . It's always way hotter in truck than the ambient temperature. There's really no reason not to have an APU at this point, especially these large fleets that turn thier trucks over every few years.

Vehicle weight exemptions for APUs, Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association -
Right before I left Prime a few months ago they started changing the trucks over to no idle for company drivers, and no idle for lease unless they have 1 year as a fleece operator. I was in Iowa this last winter when I was told about it, and told next time I am in a terminal for service they would be shutting it off on mine. There was a guy who's APU died, which caused the batteries to go dead and the bunk heater stopped working. Luckily he woke up in time, but had mild hypothermia, Prime basically told him if he doesn't like it too bad, shows you how much the mega's care about you, Prime believes diesel cost more than your life.
Rollr4872 and hagarcobra Thank this.
