The question I have is how much debt will those last three years cost you? How much debt do you already have? Calculate how many years it will take to pay it off, if you get that pharmacy job. Then calculate how quickly you could pay off your existing debt if you start driving a truck.

By the way, you can drive intrastate at 18, or interstate with the agriculture exemption. If you want to drive a truck, don't wait.

Nyc kills any possible job aspects for driving a truck

My debt upon graduation is 120k, not bad for a 6 year program where schooling is about 40k a year (gotta love scholarships) and compared to others who take out near double its not bad.
If I’m smart, I can pay it down in 3-5 years depending upon my cost of living, ie if my parents stay in New York after I graduate I can rent out the basement to keep expenses down.
Or I can stretch the payment over a long period of time and have a minimal payment, but I rather be debt free.
Currently 0 dollars in debt, I’ll begin loans after next year.
The main reason for becoming an owner operator is the freedom and independence, but it isn’t easy. Dad used to be an owner operator but used too is the key term.

Sorry for the hijack Blair, continue on.

Have you looked into what pharmacist are earning in different areas of the country? I'm serious dude. Get that degree and move to Florida. There is a young guy i always bump into on the boat ramp. 28 years old and making over 90k on an 8 hour shift 4 days a week with ridiculous benefits, heck i think he said he got a 20k dollar moving allowance to relocate here. That might not sound like a lot in nyc but in the suburbs of Sarasota that money goes a long #### way. You can live fairly well here on 60k a year. Plus no state income tax.

Why? They planning on getting rid of trucks soon? Trucks been around for longer than anyone on this forum has been alive, no reason to get in a hurry.

Ruthless, haycarter, rphdriver and 2 others Thank this.
