It's a dirty little secret. The customer has already been charged for the tolls. The company is trying to make an extra couple bucks by sending the driver on a route without tolls. It can add hours in some cases. The driver suffers in the end. Always take the route that is shortest on time. Nobody at Millis ever once said anything to me about altering my route and taking a toll road. They already know it makes more sense to do it that way.

Yup agree with everybody else. I always take whatever route is the fastest, and nothing is ever said. My biggest complaint about how miles are paid is when you deliver to say 1 side of Ft Worth and then get sent to the brewery in south Ft Worth. It can take 30 to 45 mins to get down there in no traffic, and yet we get paid zero empty miles. That drives me nuts.

I generally stick to just talking to myself since more times then not I'm the only idiot willing to listen to me.

I never heard of zello, and personally the CB is mostly useless. Don't get wrong, I wouldn't drive without one, the picture I have ingrained in my head of a truck driver always includes a CB so I have one, but most of the time it's just guys yelling at each other. Now and then it would be good for lane closures or accidents coming up but those times were the exception, not the rule.

zello is similar to the Nextel push to talk phones on in app form. Thanks for the feedback i am just considering what i will need as a driver.

Never had a CB, never will. I'm running my Garmin and Google Maps at the same time. If there's a traffic issue up ahead, Google always lets me know MILES before anyone on a CB would be able to tell me. If it's a serious issue I'll simply pull over and find a detour. This may not work for everyone, some prefer the Snowman method. Nothing wrong with that at all. To me though, the talk on CBs is the equivalent of the worst part of Twitter. Personally, I pass.
