Well, maybe it's Karma for all of the other things Werner has done. Like provide expedient service at reasonable rates. They are guilty, of delighting me with excellent customer service. I am looking at the recruiting poster right now in another browser window, and man, I am feeling the love coming from this company. I am aspiring to be like the depicted driver; just another working class person, doing a working class job.
Werner hit with $90 million dollar verdict

Disgusting how a tragic situation had to be turned into a parade of greed. Infuriates me nothing is noted of the mother's negligence in the whole scenario this driver was at the wrong place at the right time for the piranha. Why not go after the pickup truck manufacturer for not having the same equipment they demanded of Werner? Sue the state for allowing your ignorant self a drivers license. The c.b. radio line was rich! Werner will probably get a reversal on appeal.

Maybe they could blame Loves.... If the driver didn't have to wait 45 min to get fuel he wouldn't have been there to be hit.
Maybe it was one of her kids fighting with the seatbelt cauing a delay in her depatrure. She wouldn't have hit the tuck if she wasnt delayed 2 min.
She would have missed the truck if she didn't need to stop for that stop sign. Blame the Stop sign.
Or the other 4-wheeler that cut in front of her just to slow down making her sit through a light instead of going through it.
The problem isn't with the person that lost control of the vehicle, ohh no.Snailexpress, TROOPER to TRUCKER, 06driver and 6 others Thank this. -

If OOIDA keeps it up everyone that wants a CDL will be forced to go to a mega puppy mill.

Nothing against some major carriers with lots of resources training most drivers. But they could probably do a better job. And they probably need to be more aggressive about culling out those who just can't get it rather than just passing them on through with a hearty "good luck".
They certainly don't need to have trainers sleeping while trainees drive in their first winter driving conditionsMudguppy Thanks this. -
But I also recognize other larger problems -
Consider the recent school bus crash in Jersey a few days ago. Turned out the school bus driver made a needless and stupid u-turn on a busy interstate. 2 dead and many critically injured.
Do you think the school district will be held financially responsible to the same degree as Werner? No.
Do you think the bus driver will suffer any punitive damages or even ticketed for illegal u-turn? Probably not
Do you think bus driver applicants will endure more stringent standards? No.
Do you think perhaps the dump truck company will have to defend themselves for being at the wrong place wrong time? Yes
It's all screwed up. We live in bizarro world and the trucking industry is on the wrong end, every time.Last edited: May 18, 2018
